I am thinking of moving my banking over to first Direct as I am fed up with my existing bank. Is anyone with FD who can recommend them or not?

First Direct is a unit of HSBC. HSBC is one of the worlds largest banks with an excellent reputation. I, however, don't have any direct banking experience with them.

Smile is OK. It's a branch of the Co-op bank and you can use the post office for deposits & withdrawals. Set up on website or over the phone. http://www.smile.co.uk

All banks are the same, they only have in mind separating you from you money, join a credit union, practically all can be joined these days. They have service in mind and don't nickle dime you to death.
