You might make some money, don't know about rich. Unless you have something really high value to sale, and you got buyers that will pay you big bucks for.

You do pay to list and to add photos and a fee when you sell.
You can make money if your stuff sell and if you got it free can make a profit.
You need something unique to make money like becoming specialist on one type thing so you can have an ebay store.
My nephew sells baseball cards, he knows who every player is and how much the cards are worth. He might buy a box of cards and have one card that is worth what he paid for the entire box.
You have to have good feedback or nobody will ever buy from you. Make sure if you are selling something used people know it is used and if damaged show good pictures of the damage. When they have paid by paypal make sure you mail within a day or so. Communicate with the buyer tell them when you ship and give them good feedback so they will want to buy again.
Once you have the skills to do the photos and write the ads consider selling for people you know. Your mom might want you to sell some of her household items on commission. My nephew sold auto parts for his brother in law for 1/3 until his sister decided she would do it.

Not really; there are too many people trying. You can make good money selling on ebay, but you have to know what you're doing, and it's getting more difficult lately because they keep raising their fees.

I earn a couple of hundred pounds a month doing it..... selling clothes and dvds and things.

So it's totally worth it.

Over here it's like 35p per item to add things.. and then a small charge from paypal...i don't know how much it would be over there.

But it's worth the cost to do it..

you have to work really hard to turn a really good profit on ebay. but if you are selling and putting away more than you are spending, you can earn yourself at least a down payment. it beats selling your stuff at a yard sell. good luck
