The cashier of a Indian gorcey store in Waltham gave me a Two Dollars Bill.

I've been moved from Canada for 8 years now and this is the first time I see a Two Dollars Bill.

Is it counterfeit money?

No it is not counterfeit. Some parts of the country $2 bills are more common. When we moved to the east coast hardly anyone knew about them. But, back in WI they are all over the place.

Yours may or may not be counterfeit. The 5 US 2 dollar bills on my desk are genuine. The link below is a FAQ on the US Treasury website. It specifically states that $2.00 bills have not been removed from circulation. I heard 'exotic dance clubs' had begun requesting $2.00 bills to use for change. It doubles the tips for the dancers.

No, the $2 bill was revived briefly in the 70's. Though they are no longer in production, they are still legal tender and they sometimes show up. Usually, people just collect them.
