I had a credit card that I paid on a monthly basis and on time every month. I became unemployed and continued to pay through the entire unemployment. I did not find a job and ran out of money and lost everything. I contacted the company to let them know where I was moving to and let them know I was sorry that I wasnt going to be able to pay anymore until I got a job. They would call every day for collection and I informed them everyday that I didnt find work. After a couple weeks of this I had some different deapartment calling that was a bit more rude but understandably so. A couple weeks later they started to call and yell at me and call me a loser and told me "Loser get a job and pay your bills".This was terrible. These calls continued for a month whether on the phone or on the answering machine.I then got a call from a lady who I told I had $10 to my name and she asked me to send her $5.She then said that I should give blood for money? Now they are suing me. What can I do?

is it more important to have a big down payment or to have no debt? my husband and i have only about 6500 in debt on a credit card of only 8.9% apr but we're debating on whether or not to pay off the credit card first and then save for a down payment or double our credit car payment and put the rest into savings for a down payment. which would be better?

My father put a CD up for collateral for a personal loan. The loan matured and a balance of $3,800 is owed. The cd is larger and I can not pay the balance of the loan. The bank is going to take the balance from the CD and the loan will be settled. My father does not understand my temporary situation and is telling me he will take me to small claims court and put a judgement against my home (which is not on the original loan). Is that possible?

Why would anyone take money out of an asset that appreciates to finance a liability that depreciates? If you can't afford to pay for the car outright, it's probably out of your price range! A Ford Focus can get you to the grocery store just as quickly as the H3 Hummer and uses less fuel. Is an H3 Hummer really worth the possibility of foreclosure? I don't understand how these people get through life the way they handle money.

Being out on your own these days when young (19) is so hard, I now understand why so many choose to live at home for so long. Rent prices here are massive, I live with a housemate to help pay the bills, but it is still hard, my career is just taking off so its low pay for the moment, i work 2 extra jobs to make ends meet and do not have the choice of moving home as i no longer have one to go back to due to an abusive home.

Any Ideas on what i can do ,other than the usual (saving every penny so as to afford to live),on being able to live, and still have fun, stay sane and just be young. I'm not the only one who just getting by so many other may have ideas and tips on what helped them through it?

Looking at $3850 for defaults on my credit file, $3k for miscellaneous debts and $4K-$5K for a car, so all up, a loan of around $12k at the maximum. Please help someone, I am ready to take my life down the right track, please give me that kick start? I understand it makes you look like an unreliable person when you defaults on your credit rating but I am reliable and honest and need a chance!! AUSTRALIA ONLY PLS

My Mary Kay Director used my credit card worth Phip200,000.00 and in return she issued me 1 month postdated check in payment for the credit card she used. When due date comes it was a closed account check. I demanded payment from her but she will not pay instead she told me to collect to her beauty consultant in which she give the products. Our verbal agreement for almost six months transactions is that she is directly liable to me. I don't care how she used my credit card as long as she will pay me by issuing her personal checks. I already file this case to barangay for 1 month and still she insist that her beauty consultant is liable to me. But for almost 4 months even a single centavos was not given to me by her consultant. I want to go in a higher court but I just want to know how long it will takes hence II only borrowed the money I paid to my credit card and it gains a monthly interest to my creditor which I paid every 1st day of the month. Please help. Thanks. God bless!

Recently I deposited a check that bounced. I was charged the fee of the bounced check along with an additional fee. Does anyone know if I would have had this same problem if I had just cashed it - even if both my account and the account of the check that bounced are from the same bank?

thanks!

How can a bank make money if they pay .50% intrest daliy is the intrest compounded ie. I place $1000 x .50% x 30 = $1150, so next month do I gain intrest on the $150 or is it like a CD?
Also are there any more fees than the 10$ monthly service fees if my balance drops below $3,500?

I hit a financial roadblock that cost me $400 and change. Soon (but not immediately) I will need to get that money back. Working is not possible at this time since I am a full-time college student (in at 10, out by 5ish). I refuse to sell drugs/my body, and I don't own a car. If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know. Thank you so much.

I was talking to someone who mentioned that the advantages of plans like 401k's and other tax deferred accounts might not be as good as they seem. lets say im making 200,000$ per year. Id be in the highest tax bracket now. once i retire lets say i have a very substantial savings and i am pulling in maybe the same amount from investment income. wont my tax rate be just as high after i retire since my investment income is so high. from what i understand the point of a 401k is to take distributions after you retire because you should be in a lower tax bracket. but that might not be the case for those who have been socking away money feverishly for 40 years and have a few million dollars in their accounts which throw off a very large investment income. am i seeing this right?
