Let me see if I understand. You want a cash advance on your compensation (salary). You want that money so that you can take time off of work, when you won't be drawing a salary. If your boss is insane, just go ahead and ask straight out. Otherwise, rethink this plan.

You need to clarify that question. Are you saying you want to get a cash advance from your job because you are having a baby?
Go talk to your boss. You may be out of luck. Not all employers are willing to give advances, especially when there's a pretty good chance you won't come back to work.
