I want to apply for a passport to leave the country for Australia next year for a honeymoon. How does a person go about to see if their identity was stolen? Who do you contact, who do you talk to? Thank you! :)

My friends credit card was declined during dinner and she called the bank and they told her a lawyer in another state froze her account. The bank does not know who the creditor is, only the lawyer. It has been a week and the laywer has not returned any calls and his the phone number provided is a cell phone. We are talkin over $5k frozen. She swears she owes no one, has perfect credit, just received a recent copy of her credit report and everything. Could it be possible identity theft? I've done searches trying to find this lawyer, a address or something and cannot find anything, the bank cannot either. Help me, help my friend.

How long does it take for my credit score to go up? I have paid off alot of the debt that was on my credit report, plus have maintained a checking acct. for 20 years with no bad checks . I have gotten loans with a cosigner, and have never been late once on a payment. My credit score has not gone up even after paying off some of that debt I had in the past. Why is this and shouldn't it go up immediately after paying ? I am unable to get a loan because of that low score.

It was sent from the Commercial Collection Service, Inc. in Santa Rose, CA. Apparently I owe $66.50 to something but I'm not exactly sure what it is. All it says in the description is: "Unbelievable."

I tried calling them but no one answered. All I received was an automated message telling me to leave my contact info. The debt date was 04-30-07, but I just received the letter today.

They have not made any calls yet (are they suppose to by now?) and this is the only letter I have received.

What happens if I don't pay this "debt?"

I went bust on a credit card. The credit card company sold my debt to Mann Bracken, LLC a debit collection agency. Any advice on how to deal with this company would be highly appreciated? I have no means to pay them back. I could care less about my credit. I own 25% of a condo and have a car which are both financed.

Just trying to find out if someone is telling the truth with regard to money owed.. If bankruptcy information is public, how do I search for that person in the public records? I would like to know if they are not listed, does this mean they are not telling the truth?

situation.....My dad was in the hospital last year and almost died. I was with him for about 45 days during this time i missed approx 2 payments on all my loans( car loan, 2 personal loans, 2 credit cards, and a 4 wheeler loan) Once i returned home I quickly returned everything to normal, or so i thought. Now over a year later I have all of the above paid off except for my car but i got denied for a loan the other day when i went to trade my car in. i got several letters and they all said the same thing. Past or present delinquincies. now this was just 2 missed payments that were corrected before any went to collections. whats the deal here if they are paid off?

I earn approx 12k a year (this changes as it's commission based, but that's about the max). I want to start doing private tuition (music) and will be able to add around 5k approx to my salary. Can i get a mortgage with this? I'm fed up paying £500 a month rent for a tiny flat that will never be mine. I haven't gone to enquire about this yet as i'm afraid they'll laugh at my low earning. Any help and advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm in the market for an auto loan and don't belong to a credit union. Is it worth the hassle to join one in order to get potentially better rates? Do CUs calculate rates differently than banks (i.e., credit score, loan term, down payment, etc.)? Thanks.

I am at 650 now and my boyfriend is at 695. What do we have to do to get to 750? We want to buy a home but we want to try and do a full finance because the money we have in savings, we want to use for school and incase one of our cars breaks down. I thought about piggybacking, but I don't feel comfortable enough paying a company and I don't have family members to help out either. Lenders won't touch us without a credit score of 750 + for a full finance.

How long would it take to build 50-100 points?
