Your credit report reports things that have happend during the life of your credit history. You can't change history by paying off past-due accounts. You still let them get past due and didn't pay in a timely manner.

Most debtors will not remove your past credit history UNLESS they were in the wrong for putting you on there in the first place.

The bad debt reports will fall off after 7 years.

Well, legally they don't have to completely remove them - only show them as "paid" or at a zero balance.

The only way to remove them would be if they weren't your accounts, or the lender agreed to remove them (they usually don't ever do that)

Generally, standard accounts (credit cards, installment loans, auto loans etc) will remain on your credit for 7 years from the date the account was closed. If you have a collection account and it becomes seven years old since the original account was closed, it will come off automatically.

Hope that helps!

You can not remove a negative posting. You can make sure they post paid on the account per the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

I don't think you can remove them. Where I live things stay on your credit report for 7 years.
Try to keep your record clean from now on. Down the road when a credit check is done they will be able to see that you had a problem, resolved it and now pay on time etc.
One bad rating may be forgiven but you must now keep things up to date.
