I owe capital one a debt. I will pay them off when I get the money, but at this moment I do not have it. I will not be able to show up in court because I am in another city. I already know they will freeze my bank account. Would it be better just to close out my bank account before they get to it? I do not have anything else in my name. Can I negotiate a payment plan with them before the court date, or is it too late? If it is what will happen after the default judgement is passed against me? Can they go into or even freeze my husbands account if it is not a joint account? And last but not least can they garnish his wages? Please only serious answers and not smart alec's thank you.

...from withdrawing money from my checking account? There was this free program i signed up for, and they gave me a 3 year membership without me knowing. i just discovered $40 dissapearing from my account monthly, and when i called them to find out why, they said i signed up for a 3yr membership(which i didn't) and i can't cancel it exept i move to an area where they don't have centers. so if i cancel my checking account and change banks will they stop withdrawing money from my account!!!!!!!!!!

PS. I don't own any credit card, will this hurt my credit history if i don't won a credit card?

I already have several credit cards. I want to lower the limit on one (which I have used for several years) from 13000 to maybe 3000 or 4000. Also I want to cancel a credit card (2500 limit) which I have never used. Will doing either of these things lower my credit score?

I am planning on doing this because I want to get a different credit card for home improvements (lower interest), and I want to make sure that I wont be denied because I have to much credit for how much I make. Obviously, if my credit score goes down... that wont bode well for this endeavor either.

Thanks in advance (and please only answer if you know what you are talking about)

I started out with a Student Visa card, too easy to get, maxed it out when I needed it and paid it back over a period of a few months. The credit card company made money, that's for sure. Since I took a year off school the company changed my plan and it's due to expire. I haven't used it in a long time. I like the security and convienence of having a credit card for those just incase situations, but I live and work overseas, making it not so easy and don't claim an income. Should I go to the trouble of using my card in order to continue being able to have the card when I move back or do credit card companies usually just renew cards even if you don't use it more than once or twice a year and have like no claimable income?

I was approved for a credit one bank credit card online. At the end of the application it said after your identity verification your card will be mailed to you. How do they verify my identity and when should I get the card? I tried going back on the website to check the card status and all it said was that your account or application had already been processed. Thanks.

My friend, let's call him, "Ben" had gotten a title loan couple of years back on his Toyota. He made several payment, but could not keep up with the payments.

The loan company sent out repo people several times to his house, but it was at times when he wasn't there.

About a month after the repo guys started dropping by, Ben had to move to new place because his lease has expired. Ben, of course, did not inform title loan company.

It has been little over 3 years since that time and Ben still has the car. However, he has not been able to register it because the title loan company has their names on the title as co-owners and they would need to sign off on the form as well.

Now, he recently moved from CA to another state, job related.

Here is what Ben would like to know:

1. What would happen if he surrended the vehicle now?

2. Did Ben need to tell the loan company where the vehicle was when he realized the repo guys were coming around? Since it's been over 3 years, is there any legal remifications he needs to worry about?

3. Is there any way that he can register the vehicle without the loan title company signing off on it?

4. What happens if repo never finds Ben and Ben never lets them know where he is? He has never intentionally avoided them but he neither let them know where he was either.

5. Nothing regarding this vehicle (Amount owed or the repo) has appeared on his credit report. Do the repo guys have to physically repo the vehicle before anything appears on this credit report?

Any help is appreciated.

The judge said she got the car in our division of property Feb. 2002 . I made car payments till May 2002 because my contact info was the only they had. My-ex and I didn't talk for those months, in may I got a hold of her and told her to start making the payment and never looked back, I guess she changed the contact info, the end result was the car got repo'ed. This affected my credit. I found out it was on my report in May 2003 and called wells fargo. They said they would remove the repo from my credit report and gave me a letter that states, account was paid in full after I gave them a check for over a grand. I was 20years old, would have did it different now. Now in 2007 the repo still stands and wells fargo says it's a valid repo and will continue being reported till 2008. Any way to fix this?

Is that having too many credit accounts open and what not? Because I have 5, and I thought that was fine, so the limit to balance ratio could potentially be higher, therefore increasing my credit score.

Am I wrong?

I was told that.

Or does that mean something else?

Anyways, this is annoying becuase it's near impossible to know what's right and what's wrong. Everyone tells you a different thing.

Can you believe it's WRONG to go over 50% of your total allowed limit? THAT IS INSANE.

IF you're allowed $5000, you should be able to SPEND up to that amount. I really don't see why they'd penalize you for spending more than a certian percentage.

BALONEY!

This whole credit thing is a compilcated stupid game, that's all it is, and it's ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous.

I filed a chapter 13 in July 2002 and completed my 5 years of repayments in July 2007 and the case was discharged. I immediately got a bill from the state saying I still owe $900 in interest and penalties from tax year 2000. Do I really owe this? Are all of my other debts wiped away now?

I have excellent credit and good credit score. I have bunches of credit cards, both store and visa, etc that I want to cancel. There are zero balances on all, haven't used them in years, and just want them off my credit report as "closed by customer's request" which shows they were not cancelled for any bad credit reason. Will this hurt my credit score?? I know if you have balances or delbt other places, it can hurt, but I have no debt and no balances on them. Thanks!

Two years ago my ex boyfriend borrowed my credit card to purchase a computer. After I finally broke up with him and have started dating someone else, he refuses to pay off the balance of what he owes. I'm not sure what I can do to make him pay! He kept the computer and refuses to put anything else towards paying it off. What legal action can I take against him, if any? I have records showing that he has made payments to me to pay off the part of the balance, so I can prove it wasn't a gift. There is over 1000$ left to be paid. Any ideas?

My husband and I went on a trip last week and we returned late late Friday night/ very early Saturday morning. We found out later Saturday morning that my husband had lost his Visa Debit/Credit card. We called ASAP and the last place it was used at was a gas station late Friday night (where he lost it).
Now we had plenty in checking and some in savings and at our bank if you go over at all in checking, they automaticly transfer some from savings to checking. I went about an hour ago to check the account and realized we were over by a good bit and our savings is completely emptied.
Can someone use the card as credit even after it has been reported as lost????
