I had a man from a debt management (credit counseling agency) tell me that if a credit card company took you to court and got a judgement, then they could take things out of your home if you bought them with the credit card such as furniture, appliances, etc.
Was he just telling me this to try and get me to sign up with his company or is this true, can a CC company really do this?
I have a CC debt, but no household furniture was bought on it.

me and my boyfriend are having a disagreement... maybe you can help. I have 2 credit cards, one with a 10k credit limit and one w an 8k credit limit. I have never even come close to maxing them out, never even used 50% of available credit. I do carry a balance but always pay ontime, never missed a payment. He claims that having 18 k in credit will prevent me from getting loans in the future bc of my spending "potential".... i think that bc i always have kept my revolving balance low and pay on time it is fine. (also I have student loans and a car loan that i also have always paid on time) who is right??? Also, would it effect my credit score negetively if i paid off my cards and asked them to drop the limit??

I'm about ready to SCREAM!!!! I'm so confused!!!

Okay, all I want to do is make the money from my Paypal account go into my frickin' Bank of America account. That's all I want to do, but I'm having the hardest time. I tried to add my BofA account to Paypal, but I guess it never worked. So, today, my sister added my BofA account to Paypal, but she added it as a credit card. Will this work??? Why is it that when I click "Withdraw" it takes me to a page where I have to add my bank account number?

I'm guessing it's already linked, because when I check my account balance on the BofA website, I'm missing $.30, but there's no explanation of what happened.

This question probably doesn't even make sense. Sorry.

Her only income is her SS Check--can she ask that the bill be written off. I do not think they can take her check--My cousin is her Power of Attorney....I am sure she is responsible for some of the charges....I would like to think she has abused her Power.
If her bills are written off --Will this make her credit bad? Sometime she has to get her medicine on her credit card...I told my cousin to keep one card or will she have to close her one card?
My Aunt is 96 years old and has early Demenita..i do not live in the same state as my Aunt and cousin.

Okay, I just found out I am in the chexsystems database a week or so ago when I tried to open up a checking account and was denied.. However, the dispute was made 5 years ago during my senior year of high school... Sometime in mid May the dispute will be officially 5 years old..

I've read that it stays on the record for 5 years before it's removed from the chexsystems database.. So my question is: Is it likely that I will be able to open up an account once the 5 years is up ? Will I be permanently out of the Chexsystems database ??

How does this work ? I need a checking account..

Any chexsystems pros out there ?

Thanks..

My fiance and I got in a little disagreement a little while ago about how long collections stay on a credit report.

He says that after 7 years they will be removed from a persons credit report - whether they are paid or not.

I disagree with that. Why would collection agencies just "give up" trying to collect money from a person and take it off a persons credit report. It doesn't make sense to me. If collection agencies just stopped trying to collect from a person after 7 years wouldn't a lot of people not pay their bills because it will just go away after 7 years?

Can someone clarify this for me? Thanks!

My husband and I are living in US and we have some unpaid balance on our credit cards. I would really like to paid all off but he lost a job a half year ago and I'm making enough money just for rent and bills and for all other stuff we have to charge credit cards. It looks like my husbend is not going to get any job here any more without work permit or greencard so we are force to go back home to Europe. But in our country we would have to work whole life to paid off the balance. I don't know what to do anymore. Should we stay in hope that some day we going to get working papers and charge our credit cards even more for lawyers and stuff or should we go home and leave our credit cards unpaid here? Or should we call them to get some plan so we can paid off in our country. What if we don't make enough money there to paid it off?

When you file for bankruptcy, does your car get taken away? I know this may sound stupid, but I have no idea about these kinds of things.

My husband and I are in such debt. We are trying to decide if we just want to stop paying our credit cards--that would give us an extra 500 a month. I know that's going to lower our credit scores and make it harder to get a home loan and they are going to harass us by phone to no end, but is there anything else I should know? I mean, could we go to jail? Get sued? Please let me know!
