I've been paying on my car loan for over 53 months without a hitch on a 60 month contract, lost my job 6 months back and couldnt afford to make 2 car payments which has now made my account 2 months delinquent even though I've started making regular payments again. The bank sent repossessors, the repossessor stated that the vehicle has been reported stolen and they need to recover it. Is this true? Can a Bank or Repossessor report a vehicle stolen?

Hello,
My husband bought a TV in 1990 and never paid on it (don't ask me why) from a store called McDuff. In 1994, McDuff filed for banqrupcy and closed and in 1995, the collection was charged off. Now, on the 3rd day of Jan., 2007....12 years later.....they called me and told me that he still owes this debt and he must pay it. It already came off his credit....it obviously didn't hurt us getting our house 5 years ago....plus, they tacked on like $300 on top of it. So the whole amount is like $400 they are saying he owes. I'm not proud of my husbands past financial mistakes but does he really owe this debt and what can they do to us??? Thanks!

I was told by somone who works for a credit reporting agency that when FACTA (The Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act) came out back in 03 or 04, eliminated any restrictions that were in place that prohibited mortgage brokers and lenders from giving out a copy of the credit report. Any insight???

When I was 18 years old, I moved into my first apartment & lived there for 2 years. I moved into another place & then moved out of the city. When I relocated & tried to get an apartment I was denied. Come to find out I had an eviction & owed the apartment complex. A family member went in & forged my signature on another lease. I know I should have reported them, but I didn't. I eventually found an apartment but it was kind of run down & I had to pay the full deposit. Since then, I have been working on raising my credit score & I have paid the amount owed to that apartment complex & it shows paid on my report, but not sure if that would make a difference being that it was an eviction.

I currently don't have a credit card. If i get someone to co-sign one for me, will their credit history affect mines? For example, if that person misses a payment, does that ruin my credit too? I know that i can ruin the co-signer's credit, but does it go the other way around

I had a big problem. I owed a debt due to unemployment. I asked for advice and people were telling me not to pay it because it would restart the clock. The problem: a double entry on my credit report - one from the orgl. creditor and one from the coll.agency. It was kind of unfair because this was zombie debt that resurfaced out of nowhere, 4 year old debt being reaged. I figured I was unemployed for a year and a half - the original creditor got his "reward" (acct. was sold AND was written off) - so I decided to not look back and simply be a good citizen moving forward, which I did. A lot changes in 4-5 years.

Now I have this agency giving me the silent treatment, after writing letters because my credit report tumbled 30 points because of their "fresh entry".

Read the link above, if you scroll lower under #4, "Multiple Listings of the Same Debt" - which means that I can actually fight this. Keep the faith!

Also, I found that they put the total amount on a revolving account. This is now in dispute - I contacted BBB and the Attorney General of TX. At one point I thought we might have an agreement with the BBB over it, but now the credit card company (GE Care Credit) is pursuing me for payments over the phone. I am not having the procedures done, and am contemplating not paying the credit company . What could happen if I do not pay them? They are not performing the procedures, and the account was opened up with out me being aware of this financing (contract had small lettering disclosing this).
