we opened an account. this business allowed someone else to bill to our account. now we have a balance thats almost 6000 but that is including the 3000 worth of materials we had ordered. we had no idea this was going on until we got the bill..now we have the receipts w/ this guys signature on it but the business is going after us even though they knew it was not my husband that had placed the order. nor did they call us to verify if this was cool. .. They say its not there place to verify orders?? I thought now days all business were to verify ...they check your ID every time u write a check or ask for an id on credit cards. ..so why would they not allow this on a business account? please help. we have warrants issued for this guy but we are sure he has left the state but now this business has contacted their attorney in regards to a bill that we did not sign off on. ..

Some one called me 3 years later trying to collect on a check from "candy sales" I paid for this check in cash before my children were able to receive their report cards, i was told they couldnt' get their report cards (in 5th grade) unless it was paid. That was 3 years ago...Now what do i do, they said they don't have any recipets of me paying it..any ideas??

Recently to fight a high interest rate on a credit card, I applied for multiple credit cards and did some balance transfers. However, I went a little too overboard while doing this! My credit balance on one of my cards appears minus a specific balance.

How does the credit card company go about this? Is there a penalty for excess funds over total balance? And does the credit card company compensate your negative balance by say writing you a check?

Please help -- thanks =)

I have recently moved to the USA from the UK and have had problems with monies owed to me by former employers. I have run up some pretty big debts on UK credit cards in the process and I'm finding it very difficult to make ends meet what with the exchange rates and other bills.

If I just stop paying my credit card bill, can the Credi Card company catch up with me in the US ?

Over two years ago I had outpatient surgery at the local hospital. My insurance co-pay was $50. I think I paid it, but I just got a collection agency letter, so when I called the hospital they told me that they had done an audit, and that's how they found it. They didn't bother to send me a bill, they just sent it to collections. I have no proof that I paid it, because I use a different bank now. I just can't imagine that I would let bills slip by back then, so I don't think it was unpaid back then. What can I do? Should I just pay the $60 (they're charging interest) or is there a legitimate way to make them cancel this two year old debt that they haven't cared about until now?

I just recently discovered that a hospital had sent a bill to collections that I was not supposed to pay. Insurance covered it. It has been damaging my credit for 10 months now. I got the documentation from the hospital saying I have a zero balance and that insurance paid it, but when I dispute it will it just be marked paid and continue to hurt me for a few years, or will it be completely deleted from my file? This mistake has cost me over 200 points. I'd like to get them back seeing as this was not my fault.
