Most Visa/Mastercards are tiered for different types of purchases. I'm looking for a card that gives a flat 2% back on everything with no limits. Thanks to everyone who takes time to respond! Darryl :)

My family & I are victim of Identity theft. They got hold of our check books, opened credit cards, stole drivers licence, used our social, knows our date of birth. Many credit card accounts were opened even under a dead family members name. We keep sending death certificates to credit card companies. Our accounts went into collection. We have contacted the police, postal inspector & FBI. They have many cases so they are unable to resolve our case. The bank took around 10,000 dollars from our account the crook wrote & is refusing to pay it back. We have informed all credit buero's, sent letters to attorney general, comptroller of the currencies and every other place you can imagine but no one is on our side. The crooks even went abroad using our identity. They went to jewelry stores, electronic stores, ate at restaurents, took even licence tabs. We had excellent credit but now it's ruined. If we hire a lawer the fees will too much to handle. What other options do we have? Any ideas?

I have reached the seven year mark on some of my debts, and I am wondering that even if they disappear from my report, is there anyway it can still negatively affect my credit score, or will it eventually start getting better? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a credit card that I've had for almost a year. I had 0% interest for a year. I always pay well over the amount due. In October my payment was 2 days late. This caused me to lose my 0% interest and they raised it to 30% for 12 months. Any suggestions on how to get this payed off now?

I have 2 major credit cards with a small balance on them. I also have about 6-7 credit cards from stores that do not have any balance on them and i was wondering if this negatively effected my credit and if i should start canceling some of them.

For example if one had their credit ran several times and evenutally recieved a credit card and they wanted to extend their limit and had been advised that they need to wait to ask again, would going into 2007 count or would you have to wait 6 months to a year to apply for extension to limit?

All the people consumed with credit card debt!! GOOD GAWD if something IS NOT working then stop doing it. They must be thinking : "Geeeee lets do more shopping so I can get even further in debt, weeeeeeeeeee what fun" *rolls eyes in head*

And all the people here asking how to get rich or get free money. I truly think some of these people were dropped as an infant or born in the basement and never brought up!

Am I alone here or are some of you seeing alot of morons here too? Too scarey that some of these people could possible be in positions of power.

*shiver*

I have an outstanding balance with a credit card company in the amount of 1,600.00. I haven't paid on it since August 2005 because of a lot of hard times that have hit me these last 2 years. I wasn't expecting them to happen when I opened the credit card, but things happen. Anyways, they called me last night and told me if I didn't make a payment by the end of December I was going to get summoned to court. I even cried on the phone and she said there was nothing she could do and I would be slammed by the lawyer fees and so on. I can't take this. Is it true they really could take me to court if I didn't pay by the end of this month or is it a scam to get my money quicker?

My boyfriend is trying to get a car on finance. He's current car is on finance also but his mum put it in her name for him to get it. He has not faulted on one payment with his current car, has a credit card but always pays the amount off on time, sometimes paying the outstanding balance in one go, and has not got any problems with his bank so what's causing the bad credit???

I have an idea it's because he's not a homeowner but when i think about it what does that matter???

Can anyone explain to me what causes bad credit?!!??!

Many thanks in advance :)

ok, it has been nearly 7 years since i've filed bancruptcy.
I have heard everything from 7 to 10 to 11 years it takes for it to drop off your record, it seems everyone has different answers.
As well when you get your credit report it lists every single company or thing you filed on, are those individual filings staying on as well? or can they possably fall off and just the bancruptcy stays on?
Would it be prudent to contact one of the reporting agengies after the 7 year period and ask these kinds of questions? or should just let sleeping dogs lay. thanks in advance.
