Some do, some do not.

If you bought an actual lemon (IE: they misrepresented the condition of the car) you should hire a lawyer and take them to court to get released from the purchase contract. This will keep them from reporting negatively to the credit bureaus and/or getting a court order to garnish your wages.

Otherwise, you can leave the car on their lot and you will still be responsible for paying the car payment every month or face the consequences of non-payment.

It depends on the dealer, in my state 90% of the buy here pay here lots do not report to the credit bureaus. That is unless a customer does not pay and then some of them will report it as a reposession.

Most just sell the car to someone else and keep right on going.

It all comes down to how ruthless they want to be. You are liable for the loan weather you returned the car or not. The best you can hope for is to hire a lawyer if the car really was a lemon and try to get them to release you from the contract.

In my State used car dealers are laid back. They sell the car for a down payment of what they paid for the car at Auction, or, most do, then that gives them their money back. Then they usually get about $50 a week until it paid for. If, they cool, they just take a car back and re-sell. They really not worry. Their goal is to have X-amount of cars making $50 a week. This friend of mine does this and has sold the same Truck to the same guy 3 times. Guy gets broke and brings it back, then gets a job again. If, someone behind and tell him he let's them slide until they catch up, or, get too far behind.
This may not answer your question, but, as you can see, it really depends on what type of person the dealer is, I have never heard of one reporting to Credit as they normally not check credit. It like those Rent-to-Own furniture/TV places.

depending on the state you live in you can report them for the lemon law. They can report to the credit bureau. They will send you to collections and if they are really ruthless they may attach your wages. You should follow the law in the matter. Just don't give up you worked for that money fight for it.

because of the fact those places frequently charge money. And why you gonna verify somebody's credit it you're already paid in finished, up front, what you waiting for his or her $20 charges to clean?
