you have to work with them. whatever you do dont let them bully you into thinking that you have to pay in whole or that you have to pay it right away. the more you pay at once the more money they will make. tell them your situation and that you want to work with them. if they say they are going to take you to court say good. if your Bill is less than 5,000 they are not going to send a lawyer. they will end up loosing money. just dont let them push you around. if you dont want them to call you anymore ask them nicely and then send a letter to them stating why

Again, disregard the above answerer. They can in fact sue you for bills that are less than 5000-. They will add attorney fees and court costs into the judgment and you will pay it. Your best bet is to settle the bill out. As a professional debt arbitrator I have settled credit card debt out for as low as 35 cents on the dollar with most creditors being willing to accept 50 cents on the dollar give or take.
