We call it the "statue of limitations". That varies by state. You should follow up on that as soon as possible and not wait for the "statue of limitations" to run out. In my state, that is about 2 years. It may be different where you are.

Generally, it is in your best interest to do something within 30 days. After 90 days, it really gets tough.
