They do it the same day now in most places because of computers!!

It usually takes 3-5 business days average to process a cheque (or "check" in the US).

If you are taking money out, some banks will place a "hold" on your money for up to 5 days, but you can ask if you can get an instant release of your funds on your account.

That means you can deposit the cheque in an ATM, and withdraw the money "instantly". The amount allowed depends on your credit score and history with the bank.

It's funny these days. There's some called Check 21 which MOST retailers are using now. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Check_21. On the old system it could take as many as 10 business days. or as few as 2 business days. Now it's as little as 8 hours. or as many as 24. Not much of a float left.

It depends on the bank and the retailer. if it was an electronic check id say same or next day then it prollie takes another day for your bank to process it. my gas...using credit...takes three days to appear on my bank statement

it depends. Some places make bank deposits every day and some don't.
