it is so out of order. i paid a £20 deposit for top up tv anytime and they took it from my card. the next day i cancelled it and went to sky. they told me it takes 30 days to put it back on my card. i played bingo at gala online and it takes 2 mins to add money to play, i won a small amount and they take 7 to 10 days to give it to you. loads of companies take ages to give it to you back. initialy it only takes 3 days to go through the bank system. it is so annoying when these companies do this. also i will not be using these companies no more as they are taking the piss. 2 minutes to take from you and 2 bloody months to give it back, grrrr!!!

Hi, I am confused, if a rise of 0.25% from 6.75% to 7.0% adds an additional £13 to monthly repayment, then what is the actual amount I am paying interest on over 12 months, can you give the calculations with answer please

What could you do with your financial situation if you had no car payments? Seems like most people either lease (fleece) or finance a car all their lives. Would paying cash for a 2-3 year old car help you avoid the cost of being upside down on the value of a car? Wouldnt it be better to buy the 2 year old car and let someone else take the initial hit on value? New car smell can be purchased in a can. What do you think?

What could your family dynamics be if you were to be totally debt free? Would it be worth 2/3/5 years of working hard (1st and 2nd job) if you could really be debt free at the end?

First of all don't ever get store department cards! I was on the phone with the least liked call of the day, and when they were asking me for another phone number, asked if I could give a friend's number also to contact me with. Is that legal, that he asked me that? I of course said no, I'm not going to give someone's phone number in addition to mine. Any other thoughts on this?

Yesterday on the Today show, Jean Chatzky was on talking about how identity thieves have been dumpster diving to get the pre-approved credit card offers that companies mail out to people, unsolicited.

People usually just rip them up and toss them out. A reporter ran a test where they ripped up the applications, then taped them back together and mailed them to the credit card companies. Amazingly, many companies (including BofA) actually issued the credit cards, and some even accepted "change of address" information on these messy ripped-and-re-pasted things!

This is what Jean recommended:
1. SHRED: Don't just rip up the applications. Shred them.
2. OPT OUT: You can call 1-888-5-OPT-OUT and register your information. Then, by law the companies have to stop sending you the pre-approved credit apps.

2 months ago my mom recieved a dunning letter from NCO. I told her that the next step was to send a DV and CD letter certified mail. Ok it was sent out a month in a half ago. They continued to call her cell phone daily with a recorded message even after her green card came back.

The calls stop for a week or so until they reached her on her job today asking for a payment. She didnt know the law so she gave them her bank account information and told them to take out $500 on the 19th. keep in mind now the debt is for over $800. Then they told her that they will take all the negatives off her credit report dealing with that account orally not in writing! I see her credit report everyday and NCO isnt on there nothing but Cap1 charge off they are trying to collect on.

I told her it was illegal for them to keep trying to collect on a debt that they failed to validate within 30 days, which they still havent done so now. She would like to know if it is anything she could do to stop NCO now?

My mother has early stages of Alzheimers and I take care of all her affairs. She wants me to use her credit card however I see fit, within her best interests. The credit card company is giving me a hard time about this even though I have sent them the POA form. Are there laws regarding this matter?

I just got back a copy of a background check my employer performed. Under my former addresses there's two addresses listed (in places I've never lived) with other people's names. The form explains that there are inaccuracies, but I'm wondering - how does this happen? Who are these people? Did their social security number get misentered, or maybe they're trying to steal mine?

I checked my credit report with all three major companies and there's nothing odd on any of my reports, and there hasn't been in the past.
