My boss sent me to a workshop. I submitted my mileage reimbursement for eight miles. She called me in to tell me she will reduce it to five miles because that's the same distance it takes for her. I told, "ok, actually I took the distance from my home" ( I happen to leave just five minutes from my office)
Anyways, I got offended about this because how can she think I am that cheap that would try to stiff the company for $1.25 - please!
So I came right back and said, remember that day you sent me to that 2.5 hour workshop all the way to downtown city? Well, I got lost, should I add the extra 10 miles it took me to figure my way back home? I mean if you going to be picky about it, I am just going to start checking my speedometer instead of just going by the internet maps.

If you were my boss, would you be offended?

Our company have launced a new product, and they are going to give Full Time staff a free product each.

However, the permanent Part time staff are not going to get anything.

Does this amount to discrimination of some sort or what?

I was totally angry when heard this

My plan is to email CEO and make my feelings known

I am working a contract job now. Both parties aren't satisfied, They're not satisfied with the outcome. I'm equally not satisfied because the job isn't the original description..in fact FAR from.

Tomorrow is the day when time sheets get signed. Today is pretty much do or die. So my question is either way, will I at least get compensated, even the the end product wasn't accomplished..?

I was told by law they do but they could be wrong..??

My husband say that I am a conformist when it comes to how much money I make. So, I thought I would give the general public a list of my qualifications and you tell me, what do you think I am worth (can be hourly wage or salary)

-Graduated High School 3.7 GPA
-Earned an Associates of Applied Science Degree 3.5 GPA
-I took a paralegal certification program in college and received my paralegal certificate.
- I have been working for the past year since I graduated in an immigration law firm as a paralegal.
-I am bilingual in Spanish and English.
-Have great professional references.

I think that I have to get a lot more education and experience before I can make a good salary- my husband thinks that I am not giving my self credit for what I already have. HELP

I quit my retail position and gave 2 weeks notice. The store manager has refused to mail me my final check and says that I must pick it up in person. She has mailed other people's checks after they left (even though it takes her months). My paycheck is sent to the store in a sealed envelope with my address pre-printed on in. Is is legal for her to refuse to send it?

I applied for a great job and have had two interviews, had all my refrences checked, my college transcripts checked and now they just had me to take a drug test and sign for a criminal background check and said that the background check ussually takes 1 1/2 - 2 weeks and that they would be in touch.

Thats all they said, they never said I was hired or would be hired if everything comes out good they just said we'll be in touch.

What should I think of this, and is this a really good sign that they will probably hire me and just want to make sure everything is good before making a offer?

I have to do a research paper on lawyers and I need to know the employee benefits of having that job, such as health care, personal leaves etc.... but I can't find it anywhere, instead is says find lawyers to fight for YOUR employee benefits. I would really appreciate links to something saying that, I am not trying to cheat or get answers off of people, I just want to know if anyone knows any websites to help me with this. I really can't take answers from people anyway, since this needs to be cited. Thanks in Advance!!!

I've worked 3 days as a waitress @ one Iranien restaurant.
He's basically cheating me for my money,
I believe that he assumes that I'm an illegal alien in the US.
Which I AM NOT!
I AM AWARE OF THAT YOU DON'T MAKE ALOT OF MONEY PR. HR. AS A WAITRESS,BUT I THOUGHT THIS WAS A LITTLE TOO EXTREME........
I worked together 28,40 hrs.

example:
10:00a.m. - 10:00p.m.

10:00a.m. - 09:00p.m.

12:00p.m. - 5:40p.m.

The supervisor just answered:
I gotta speak to my partner first! (when I asked about how much I was gonna make hourly).

After I got to know that I was gonna get paid $300 weekly,I quit.
I don't wanna work that many hrs, without getting paid overtime and without having a payroll!

How much $ am I entitled do after working those hours as a waitress/cashier?

If for example you miss a day of work such as a company paid holiday, a day paid for bereavement, or any other company approved paid day off. And in this same week you worked 12 hours overtime and normally get paid time and a half. Can the company legally take 8 of those overtime hours and change them to straight time pay? Thus giving you a total of 36 straight, 8 holiday, and 4 hours o.t.? They say they can because you have to be physically at work 40 hours period. I live in Michigan if that pertains to state laws. Any info would be appreciated. And if possible where I can find it!

Are they obligated to hire you back if work becomes available?

My company laid me off in October, with about 10 other people. I now see a job (exactly like mine) posted on a job board. But they have not called me back.

I will be graduating this coming spring with a bachelor's degree in accounting. I was convicted with a felony assault charge in 2002. I was wondering if I will be able to find an accounting job when I can't pass a background check. Would changing my name make a difference? I've heard its illegal to run background checks with a social security number.

During my time there I witnessed a lot of unethical behavior some of it illegal. Our division manager wants us to report anything that doesn't seam right to him. The reason I didn't do it before is because he intimidated me into keeping quit. I really want to report him so someone else doesn't have to go through what I went throu. I have a lot of proof and some witnesses Has anyone done anything like that before? Can I get in any legal trouble over it?
