If there is I can't find it. Been the most useless footnote to my adult time/money wasting.

Are their any college programs where I could put it towards a relevant (usable) 4-year degree? Like para-legal or even social work?

What kind of job is it, is it a good job, easy or hard job? I'm talking about State Legislative Assistants, as in State Capitol. Do they make good money? And if it lets out the end of May, what do they do for a job the rest of the year?

If you are fired for being late for work can you still collect unemployment? I have a friend who has a telephone appeal and needs to know what to say to win. He was late once due to a car accident, and was tardy a couple of times by 10 minutes, he also had a coworker that he thought was a friend try to get him fired for his job position which he ultimately succeeded. This friend was talking to the boss continually about anything and everything that he could because he was next in line if my friend got fired. Does anyone have any suggestions to say at the appeal that would work to his favor?

Hi, guys!
My situation is like this... I got fired from my job for using internet for my personal things. That is ok I did not have problem with it. Then I wanted to delete 2 personal files from my computer (my resume and a letter) and the boss told me I can not do that because it is their property. The next day my co-worker went and deleted those files. They found out that she did it and asked her to write a report, in the report she wrote that I asked her.
This is a story. The question is: can they do anything else to me for that besides firing? Please help, I am desperate.

to do background criminal check first before getting someone in for interview. The company claims it has federal govt contracts and needs to do the checks first before getting the interview. Is it legal and ok for a company to do that?

Would you give all your info without knowing there are chances of a job offer?

btw, the company is obviously paying some vendor to do all this so its costing them too.

I bought a 1990 quad off a guy for $1800.00. I got it home and found that it is not a 1990 but a 1985/86. On top of it the VIN # were grinded out. I spoke to the guy and requested that he give me back my $ and I give him back his quad, since he was fraudulent in his ad. He said no, and admitted that he knew it was not a 1990 - but said it was a 1988 (still not the right year).
I can prove from a user manual that the parts are 85/86. I did not get the ownership nor did I get a receipt (but I do have him on tape acknowledging that I spent $1800.00 for it).
Does anyone think I have a legitimate case and am likly to get my money back. With the missing VIN# and no ownership, would I be likely to have the thing taken from me and perhaps even be charged.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am currently reviewing our On Call Procedure. We don't have anything particular in place and wondered if any of you have any guidelines in terms of:

If an employee is on call and attends a call before he/she is due on shift how do you allow for the fact that they may be due on shift within a few hours of that call?

We have had some queries from employees about whether we should be adjusting their shift start time if they have been on call.

I would be grateful if you have any information that you can share with me.

I was involved in an employment matter and obtained a lawyer who seemed credible at the time to pursue the matter. I signed a contract that required a percentage of the winnings, yet he required me to pay for disbursements and other costs. Anyways, i've paid out around $2000 and he has requested more money to keep pursuing the matter and I've decided to let it go. He has followed saying that he is going to bill me at an hourly rate less what I've paid.

I'm I obligated to pay him, and If I do not what repercusions would I face?

She previously worked full time and such a position has been kept available for her. However, she now wants to work only two days per week. This could be accomodated but only on specific days, which would be Wednesdays and Saturdays. She only wants to work two midweek days - of her choosing. Can she be told that no such position exists and that she must return to her previous full time job or nothing?

My friend's company is going thru' too many changes. Most are looking for another jobs as the company might not survive.
My friend has just started looking too.

Her boss has found another job but has not turned in resignation yet. The boss is going around telling her friends at work she is going to take my friend there to the new job if she is interested.

The boss keeps saying atleast she will have a job to go to. With all the office gossip my friend has also learned that the Boss's new job/department is in a big mess and she is not looking forward to it as things were very smooth at the current job. A couple of positions at the new job need to be replaced.
Many of the office gossipers feel that the boss wants my friend for clean up of mess and not for genuine reasons.
What do u think? Is the boss not genuine? What does the comment "she will have a job to go to mean"? Is the boss taking advantage of the situation?
