Steer away from making negative comments about your last employer. This can be taken as a sign that you may have been a difficult employee. Have you ever heard the phrase, "When you point your finger at another, three of your own fingers are pointed back at you." Don't bad mouth your old company, boss, or coworkers.

Be positive. Say that you are seeking a challenge to expand yourself professionally. Then talk about what the company you are interviewing with has that will provide you with the challenge you seek.

Some examples taken from "Resume Maker Professional", a software I bought at Office Depot are:
* I found myself bored with the work and looking for more challenges. I am an excellent employee and I didn't want my unhappiness to have any impact on the job I was doing for my employer.
* There isn't room for growth with my current employer and I'm ready to move on to a new challenge.
* I'm looking for a bigger challenge and to grow my career and I couldn't job hunt part time while working. It didn't seem ethical to use my former employer's time.
* I've decided that is not the direction I want to go in my career and my current employer has no opportunities in the direction I'd like to head.
* After several years in my last position, I'm looking for an company where I can contribute and grow in a team-oriented environment.
* I am interested in a new challenge and an opportunity to use my technical skills and experience in a different capacity than I have in the past.
* I am interested in a job with more responsibility, and I am very ready for a new challenge.
* I left my last position in order to spend more time with my family. Circumstances have changed and I'm more than ready for full-time employment again.
* I am seeking a position with a stable company with room for growth and opportunity for advancement.
* To be honest, I wasn't considering a move, but, I saw this job posting and was intrigued by the position and the company. It sounds like an exciting opportunity and an ideal match with my qualifications.
* This position seemed like an excellent match for my skills and experience and I am not able to fully utilize them in my present job.

I found this online at http://www.xecutivesearch.com/interview%20questions.htm. I thought it was good:

"I need to be challenged to develop my potential further. I'm interested in additional responsibility and new opportunity, which unfortunately are limited at (name of current employer) because of (company size/limited product line/company restructuring or downsizing). The reputation and market focus of (name of prospective employer) offers many opportunities for someone with my training and experience. It's the ideal environment I've been seeking."

Definitely do not say negative things about the company. A good reason is distance. I'm leaving my job at the moment for one much closer, but I also didn't like many other things about the company. However, when the new employer asked I simply said "it's a real shame and I really enjoyed working there but the commute was far too long, that's why I am looking for something closer." If that's not feasible perhaps mention something about the work hours, or the location in a different context (perhaps there was a lot of crime around that area), or any other practical reasons. I'm not too familiar with the job title of executive assistant but from a quick search it seems that it's a mixture of an admin assistant and a PA (I'm sorry if I've got that wrong!). Anyway, it seems like a position that could be found in a lot of different types of companies, so perhaps if they are not in the same line of work you could say something about that. I mean, as an example if you worked for a financial company before but are applying to a media company you could say that whilst you thoroughly enjoyed the role you felt that your talents would be more suited to an industry that you have a lot of interest in, such as this one, and then you can expand on that to demonstrate how your interests make you suitable for the job (you don't actually have to be interested in the industry, just do a bit of research so you know what you're talking about). Or if all else fails you could just say that you are looking for a change of pace and for new experiences, which you feel you could gain with the new company. Good luck.

Seems ok and professional to say it was health related. It's common and usual. Without describing details. Your personal business still belongs to you. Irregardless

It is okay to tell them you are leaving due to health issues. With HIPPA laws, they are not allowed to ask for details. If someone does ask, just politely say "I'm not comfortable discussing it."
