What kind of job is it, is it a good job, easy or hard job? I'm talking about State Legislative Assistants, as in State Capitol. Do they make good money? And if it lets out the end of May, what do they do for a job the rest of the year?

Legislative Assistants (LAs) are at the top of the food chain of interns, campaign volunteers, and unpaid staff. They usually get paid, but not very well. The position involves a lot of schmoozing while you have all the interns work for you, so its a pretty good deal if your parents are still willing to pay rent. That said, you have to have a lot of outside experience or years volunteering to snag this position.

When it lets out in may, I'd assume thats when your state congress has a recess. I think the paid positions continue being paid through that time.

Constituent services. Customer service to be short. Organize the elected person schedule. Answer the phone, write letters. Do press releases. They do it all. The pay is not great, but it is a great stepping stone for someone that wasts to move up in government.
You have to pay your dues on this job.
