Does anyone know of a law firm or office that is looking to hire an intern for this summer around central Jersey? I am an undergrad Legal Studies in Business at Tulane University, but I will be home for the summer and am looking for any possible positions.

Also, write letters to law firms in your area, asking about jobs. Check with your parents and your friends -- do any of them know someone who is attorney -- it never hurts to have a personal contact to wangle a job. Are you expecting to be paid or are you willing to do the work for the benefit it will have on your resume or your law school application. Show up at the law firm and ask if the office manager can meet with your for a few minutes to discuss the possibility. Do you have any real office skills -- like typing and filing and researching? They're not going to have you drafting motions with your level of experience. Get someone who knows you well to write a letter of recommendation to go with your resume. I got my first internship at a law firm by showing up, dressed appropriately and saying "Do you have any work that you need help with? They said they had never had a summer intern and I replied -- Could I have the honor of being your first intern? It was great experience!!

i agree with everything celtjade said, he/she gave amazing advice. i am interning currently at a law firm in NYC. it's a great experience especially benneficial if you are thinking of applying for lawschool. btw if you don't get an internship position and you do want to apply to lawschool don't get discouraged because my brother got into NYU law and he never stepped foot into a law office before law school until now ofcourse. but i wish you luck, i hope you get your internship.

Go to the New Jersey Bar Association web page. They post jobs there. Have a look.
