If there is I can't find it. Been the most useless footnote to my adult time/money wasting.

Are their any college programs where I could put it towards a relevant (usable) 4-year degree? Like para-legal or even social work?

With an AS you could be a security guard, prison/jail guard, police officer, MP/SP (in the military), you may be able to be a probation officer (though most are looking for BA or even MA level these days).

You should be able to get into any BA level degree including social work, criminology, sociology, etc. You can probably go into a paralegal job degree program now as most are AS level degrees.

Truth is that there is little you can do with MOST associates. Most people that get an associates only do so on their way to a bachelors. So many people have a bachelors' degree that there simply is too much competition for someone with only an associates.

That said, that degree is NOT useless, unless you choose not to take the steps to cultivate it. The associates degree is a necessary stepping stone to better things. You basically hit the nail on the head yourself. That degree could easily get you started in a bachelor program in social work or even a more advanced degree in criminal justice. Legal work is a posibility, too. You could do a bachelor in criminal justice, and even go to law school with the help of that degree.

What I recommend is that you call the admissions office of a university of your choice and ask them for more information on your options.

Many police officers have associate degrees. The reason is that many agencies require an applicant to be 21 years old. Thus, a few years of relevant college prior to applying cannot hurt. You can apply your associates to a bachelors at nearly any college or university so long as your school was accredited. I am not sure where you are, but if you want to get a paralegal degree I would strongly recommend that you check the ABA approved schools. You can find a list at:

Good luck.

You cant get something with an affiliate degree. by way of utilising having an affiliate degree tells me which you finished or would be ending community college. 4 3 hundred and sixty 5 days colleges do no longer furnish affiliate ranges. you're able to be a cop interior the NYPD with 60 credit or 2 years lively accountability militia, yet you have opposition against people who've 4 3 hundred and sixty 5 days ranges. Do 2 greater years. Even a 4 3 hundred and sixty 5 days degee isn't sufficient at present, you like a masters for alot of occupations.

absolutely, to to the your local state troopers assoc as they have a very intense school program that they train you, you need an AS degree to attend their facility and they are more respected than local or town sheriff's then you have better options as far as working for FBI a detective or investigator.
The trainin alone that they put you threw is one of the best in the world and tuff as hell. You have better options after the training and moving up the ranks.
