No, they don't call the IRS to see if you have payed taxes, and if you make under a certain amount, you don't have to pay taxes anyway. You worked there, put it on the Resume`

No, they can't call the IRS and check whether you've paid taxes... that's not their business! You should absolutely put all your work experience on your resume, and list your sister as your reference since she IS the manager. Be honest that you work for your family- it's your experience that counts. The only reason someone would do a background check is to make sure you don't have a criminal record. They might also do a credit check to make sure they can trust you around money, but they can't find out about your taxes, I don't think.

You should include the job you have worked before.
If needed, potential boss may check with your referee. Normally the referee is not family-related. Could your friend who know you well. An average job will not curtail any IRS check. But if you are applying for high executive position (where financial decision is required), the potential boss may check more details.

Put the job on your resume. They aren't going to check with the IRS to see if you paid taxes.
You know, of course, that you were illegally evading taxes, and could end up getting caught and having to pay a lot more than you would have originally.

The rule of thumb usually is not to work for family. It does not hurt to try to venture out on your own. Still use them as a reference. Employers cannot check with IRS. I think working for family shows character and loyalty.

no they are not going to call the irs..they might do a background check, but if you tell them that you worked for your fathers buisness the most he will do is call your father/ex place of work and verify you worked there.thats all they do.so no worries. if you want to put it on there you can if you dont want to then dont.. but being there for 3years will be a good thing in there eyes..

Yes, a company can do a social security verification of wages, but most companies do not.
So, put down that you worked for the restaurant, and that you are ready for new opportunities.
Nothing wrong with that!
