it would be a management position in a field i am familiar with and have been in for some time. odds of getting an offer for management are slim in my line current office, but the company is so new that i'm not sure how well they will do in the long run. how do you make a decision like this? its an opportunity to move way ahead or fail completely. now im in a secure position but very unhappy with my environment and in the future this company may be unsteady. what would you do?

So, I just graduated from college and the sales job I was hired to do makes 42k base+12k "expected incentive bonus". Phone, car, parking, gas, internet are covered but rent is still going to be insane in my territory (Manhattan).

My boss seems to be hinting that he increased my base a little because he wants me in Manhattan. How do I confront him on this without looking bad? He is evaluating me so I do not want to make him mad. I want to try to convince him that I can still do a good job living in Queens or Brooklyn and commuting to Manhattan.

I've been going through the motions of updating a database all day at work. What I've actually been doing is Answers, stumbleupon.com, texting and checking personal emails. What is your boring job and how much of it have you done?

I'm the manager of a peanut factory. I am having problems with some of my employees because they don't agree with my ideas. For example, I have devised an "elephant drill." I think it is important to be prepared in the event of an elephant stampede. However, some of my employees are complaining to upper management and asking for transfers. Why?

I have recently found out that one of my colleagues has a job interview tomorrow afternoon and if he goes then we will be in trouble. He is quite important to the company and he has only told me he is thinking of leaving. I don't know if I should tell one of the directors, who I get on with really well, just so they can try and talk him into staying but I am worried my colleague will find out it was me that said something, as I am the only one who knows. Should I tell, or is this none of my business? Please help, I hate having this on my mind.

I was recently denied employment by a very large defense contractor. I was not give a reason but through other sources I found out that they couldn't contact one of my references.

I've been a student for the last 4 yrs so I have no current work history. One of my previous supervisors is no longer with the company and the defense contractor refused to talk with the company HR dept.

The job I applied to was set up my the hiring manager for me. This hiring manager asked for me specifically for me.

It was reported in the news at the weekend that many women are still being made redundant once they get pregnant/have children. How can we find ways to help women with children, rather than disgarding them?

I support a lot of people and have a lot projects at work, most of them long-term w/ some short-turnaround tasks. I seem to have no trouble getting the quick tasks done, but never seem to find the time to focus on the long-term things. Then, when the long-term deadlines are looming a little too close, I assume an overly optimistic idea of what I can get done, get all stressed out, make mistakes, then miss the deadline anyway. I need to stop this cycle, but I don't know how. Thanks for any suggestions...

I've been updating a database since I got into work this morning. The sad thing is I don't have any other work to do. Mostly while I'm here I hit my keyboard keys loud and shuffle paper work so it can be heard. My boss is out of the office till Monday and I plan to be on here till 5pm. I wish people would stop walking past my desk so I can get on with this.

I finally got a call about a job and will be interviewing in the next couple of weeks. SO do I forwarn the company that I am pregnant or do I go to the interview and say nothing untill it is brought up to me?
I could pass as a "plump" woman depending on what I wear and I know legally they can't deny me the job simply because I am pregnant BUT... I have to fly, rent a car and hotel room so this won't be cheap. I basiclly want to know if anyone has had a situation like this and it turned out good.

since everyone usually asks questions I will post some answers here...
*I am switching jobs because we are 1600 miles away from all of our family and would like to be closer.
*insurance is already figured out so that is not a concern

Is it considered as a full-time or part time if my work starts from 8am to 5pm from Monday to Saturday? But I still have classes after my work (5:30 to 7pm) every Monday to Friday.

Furthermore, is it considered as a work if I have only done it for about a month? I think sound more like internship/training to me.
