I am President of one big company that has to do so many things in a day. Interview is fun but it takes so much of my time. So here's the funny part- I delegated the job to a manager to train him- but while outside smoking I heard our applicants complaining about how my manager talks and how bad he was conducting the interview. They said his grammar is so bad so some didn't pass coz they had to smile every time my manager makes a mistake.
I have to protect the image of my company so I had a quick lunch and took over the interview.

I have not. Did you encounter a language barrier, or something else that kept you from understanding? That must be frustrating.
I interview a lot of people at work and I don't think I have ever confused a candidate who speaks English as a second language. In all cases I write out the long questions for the candidate so he/she can follow along or refer to it as they answer.
There are a few times when the candidate just doesn't seem to "get" the question, and I will ask it another way. I once asked a question about past business relationships to learn more about how the person works with clients and internal customers, etc. The candidate answered that she never dates in the workplace.

Yes. Some interviewers are inexperienced, so that they actually fumble their questions. I did one interview, where I had to almost ask and answer the expected questions. I decided not to accept the position if offered, as I was not impressed by the people that represented the company.
