Does an Associate Degree in drafting without any prior experience in the field make one marketable in the drafting field? Will employers hire with the degree only without the experience?

There are always entry level jobs out there for AutoCad. I got my Associates in Architectural Drafting in 2000 and have been working with commercial cabinet companies since then. I am on my second job out of school and I still love working with AutoCad.

Good Luck!

Yes, entry level jobs are always around if you can find them. Some employers prefer "green" employees so they don't have to unlearn anything they learned from previous positions. I got a drafting position straight out of school that I've held for the past 3 years.

Sure. We have a "greenie" that works with us in the Land Surveying profession. He knows drafting and AutoCAD, but has no Land Surveying experience. He's learning day by day and he's cheaper than draftsmen with more experience.
