I am supposed to get married in August to a man that lives 3 hours away. We have been together for over a year. He owns his own business and do not have health insurance and I was young when I had my kids and gave custody to my parents. Well I have been with them for 5 years now but I have been unable to work due to taking care of 4 kids and my grandma who is now in a nursing home. My parents are against us getting married cause of the fact of no insurance and feel like he needs to get a full time job with benifits but he can't do that and own his own company. I want nothing more that my parents to support me on this. I am 30 now and take good care of my kids. My parents say there is no way we can get married in August. They know I am not gonna leave my boys here so if they do not give custody then I can't do it. I need to move down there and get a job but I don't want to leave me kids. How can I get them to see that I love him and want to be with him and that we all will do just fine

I read somewhere that most people lie on their resume. They add months to a job that did not work out, add college degrees that do not exist and even make up fake companies and list professional references that are friends, who act like a boss.

Is there anyone here that will not get all preachy and actually admit they lied on their resume or application for employment?

I have worked here for 4 years and I run the office. I do absolutely everything. I love my boss and I know that he needs me to stay. We've become really good friends and I don't want to hurt him. But I've found a job with much higher pay, and I feel it's really the best thing for my family if I move on. How do I tell him that I've found another job, without him hating me? I feel so guilty.

My husband took a personal day off yesterday from work to take a test for another job. Now he has had this personal day off that he is entitled too with pay off, on the calandar at work for at least 3 weeks now. His boss got wind of what he was doing and called him in his office today to discuss this. His boss told him the reason why he is letting him go is because he did not tell him why he was taking a personal day off. His boss did not ask when he requested that day off, foremost he doesnt have to because this is his day that he is entitled too right??? His boss told him since he was looking for another job then maybe he should look for someone to replace him. There is no guarantee that he will get this other job, that's why they had to take a test for it. What are my husband's rights and is there any where on the internet to find out what his rights are. We live in Georgia if that helps with anything. So please Yahoo friends tell me what you think and what rights we have.

My current job is convenient, because my employer is flexible with me, since I'm a Grad student. However, the job is very monotonous and not related to the education I'm pursuing. I'm also beginning to make mistakes, due to bordom and monotony on the job. Should I sacrifice convenience for something else more challenging....and for more money?

If I resign or I am laidoff/terminated from a previous job and reference them on my resume what are they allowed to disclose to future job prospects about my employment with them? I am located in Michigan so if anyone knows the laws here that would be helpful.

I have had a family union scheduled since we had the one last year. I'm not sure if it would affect my chances of getting the job if I tell the interviewer. I mean I'm sure I will receive a one week vacation as a benefit, but is a little over a month too soon to take a vacation even if you offer to take your work with you???

During the interview, if the employer asks for your desired salary range, is a 5k range an adequate spread? If not, is it too much or too little?

Also, say I use the 5k range and ask for 68-73k. When they contact me with the offer and say they will do 69k, is it UNACCEPTABLE to counter offer closer to the 73k end since their offer fell in the range I provided?????

Thanks
