I need help on possible career options. I am starting to see that most careers in our society are centered around these work settings: We live in a 9-5 world, numbers world, a desk world, paperwork world, and a business world. I am the exact opposite which is why I struggle with jobs! I am a night person, physical person, words person, dirty work person, and humanisitic person. Being an accountant or businessperson would kill me inside. I would die if i ever had to sit in a office cubicle and do the 9-5 routine and do paperwork and work with calculations all day. I dont know how my business friends do it. I wouldnt be using any of my own talents. I have listed some good careers for me: Cop, Nurse, Flight attendant, Bellhop, and Actor. Can you think of other careers that would utilize my strengths. I like working at night, working with people, writing, being on my feet, and being physical. Any suggestions would help.

When they ask you to upload or paste a resume, but say nothing about a cover letter, is it expected that a cover letter be uploaded as well in the same file as the resume?

Just gave my 2 weeks at my job. The manager and I are not getting along anymore and I am leaving. After I gave my 2 weeks, she says she wants it in writing.

Correct me, but why would I need to put it in writing? I have never heard of this before and I have quit jobs in the past without a letter stating I was quitting.

Any advice??

I work with a girl who is treated like a queen at work. My boss is mean and nasty to everyone except her. She walks on water and is perfect in his eyes.

He constantly tells her "good job" and "you are efficient." She says Thank You. Yet, he yells at me and others in front of her.

I tell myself in my mind that she is "Miss Perfect" and feel bad when I am around her. She makes herself feel important and defends herself by saying she is doing so much work. I try to ignore that.

I don't know how to deal with the fact that she is "perfect" in the boss's eyes and everyone else is treated poorly. I also don't know how to deal with the fact that in my mind when I see her I keep saying "Miss Perfect."

I know most of these guys start out at minimum wage retail or food service worker positions, but what ever becomes of them by the time they reach 40? Outside of prison, welfare, and the graveyard, what type of jobs do most of these guys wind up with eventually. They certainly will not be working minimum wage jobs at 40. Think of guys you know who dropped out of high school in the late 1970s and 1980s, what kind of jobs do they do today? I'm just curious, thanks!

i'm thinking of quiting my job as a waitress at this small little take away/dine in restaurant..coz i got offered something better at my uncles sushi bar...but of course i won't tell me boss, and just say my uncles needs me
But do i have to give two weeks notice? i'm planning to give one week, because i know that next week an old employee will come back from holidays and could work the night shifts, and my cousin could help me work the mornings...she only works 2 days a week
I know it's the right thing to give two weeks notice, but i really want to quit soon because i don't like my boss, also he's kind of mean and i don't want to be yelled at..
wow..i wrote alot, sorry for making you read all that and thanks for answering
