I just got some contract work and the agency has told me to opt out of allowing the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003 to apply to them. What does this mean and how does that affect me?

Get this.. I just started a job two days ago temporary job, I work hard, don't say anything, just work hard and get the job done. Well there's this lady that is always making really smart comments to me, giving me dirty looks, and always trying to tell "how to" do it like Im stupid. I haven't said anything to her and don't know why she'd be acting like this. She says HI when we first come in but when we start work she gets nasty. How do I solve this rationally? I don't talk back to her, I just do my job. I don't want to start problems with anyone.

I have been working as a clerical assistant for the last 7 years. I have always had clerical jobs, but now I would like a change.

The problem is that I am 40 years of age and I don't know what other career to go into. I am willing to retrain and take professional qualifications if necessary. I have however discounted many jobs such as being a doctor, nurse, solicitor, dentist, policeman, because the number of years involved studying, and of course my age would be a problem.

But considering the fact that I may have another 25 years of working life left, what is the best way of looking into another career.? Do you think my question is too broad? If so, how can I narrow my search?

Used to be that the ratio of compensation of C.E.O. to average worker was 5 to 1. Now it is 20 to one. That means that the average C.E.O. salary is 20 times that of the average worker salary. Yet it is ALL the employees that make a corporation rich, including production workers, etc. Without them, the company couldn't make a dime.
When will the people who really make a company a success get their due?
Where I work, we get a 2% maximum raise, no bonus, and lousy benefits. Meanwhile, our company made 5 billion in net profits this year. Sure I could quit, but more and more companies are like this.

I have working at my local council as an administration officer for the last 10 years. I would now like to have a change, and do a similar job role in the private sector, because I have been told that the wages in the private sector are a lot higher than the public sector.

Do you think that would be a good idea? Is working for the private sector a lot different to working for the pubilc sector?

My co-worker, who was hired at the same time as me, to do the same job as I do, does everything she can to get out of filing. Filing is about 75% of our job. She will take breaks, pretend to fix her clothes, pretend to be talking to clients (I can tell the phone is off on my console), ANYTHING to get out of it. Then, when she is finally trapped into it, she sorts through and files only the ones in the top 2 drawers. Leaving me to crawl on the floor filing them.
So, should I say something? How do I word something like this so that I don't look like the schmuck?
P.S. I don't mind filing. I just want her to do her fair share of all the filing, even the low ones.
