Australian phlebotomists (Pathology Collector) are heading towards a minimum requirement of Cert III in Phlebotomy. This must be a from a nationally accredited course. Employers already are looking for this on applicants resumes.
Further on the job training is then supplied by employers. Annual Competencies/Assessments are being carried out by some leading Pathology services to set a benchmark for Phlebotomists.
I also think you should call the lab or hospital where you are interested in working and talk to someone in the lab. They should be happy to tell you exactly what you need to do to be a Pathology Collector.

Good luck

i did as course many years ago through a pathology company, i can't remember what the name was, but you could try Hanley Moir, or call a Medical Centre and ask them what pathology company they use.
