First thing first, I'm from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I was recently offered a job and I needed to provide few things in its employment sheet.

1. SIN(no problem with this one)
2. A void cheque (no problem again)
3. A copy of vehicle insurance and driver's licence (???????)

What's with #3?... So far no other employers that I know of asked those two things.

Two occupations fashion design and fashion merchandising are similar, but not exactly alike. Do you know the difference between the two.

My major is not fashion, it's either engineering or math.

I have liberal arts B.A. (diplomacy & foreign affairs) and have been out of college for about 8 years now.
Most of my experience has been in sales, which I absolutely hate, but money is important to me - I want to be able to afford to do a lot of things in my life. I just find sales very boring - once you find a formula its all just repetition. Also, in the business world you are competing against people who are often disingenous at best, so you are at an inherent disadvantage if you are completely honest, which I really need to be.

An other option is grad school and it is something that I am considering right now, but nothing seems like an obvious choice, especially when I consider the financial rewards - it seems that the more the appeal, the less they pay.

Generally speaking, my interests lie in problem solving, international travel, researching, and creativity.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I am 24 yr old male who is still struggling with reaching success in life. I had to go through a lot of mental and psychological issues since 16 and certainly they hindered my growth both career-wise and spiritually.
So the result is my current self. Still no college degree (1 semester away), working temp jobs as clerk, feeling sorry for myself for all that had to happen and what I had to endure.
I feel like a total loser because I feel like at my age, I should have accomplished a lot by now such as completing Master's degree, working for major corporation, etc.
I have been trying very hard to deal with my mental issues by doing whatever I can to help myself and utilizing whatever resources out there. But I keep struggling with one issue after another. I am extremely worried and frustrated about obtaining success which seems so distant.
Can you give me advice or insights on how to rise above this critical, challenging times in my life? It seems like all the odds are against me.

I am having a mid-life career change. I have decided to go to school full-time in 2007 to be a paralegal. I thought car sales might be a way to earn good money while going to school. Does anyone know if auto sales is a good field with a flexible schedule? Don't most people buy cars in the fall and winter? What would be the most lucrative car to sell? How does someone get started? Thanks for your answers.

I'll be hunting for a new job later this year. After I get the new job, would it be a "no no" to not give them my cell phone number?
And, just say I don't have one for use now? I would leave it at home, never using it around them. Is that bad?

Are employees truly expected to be available 24/7 now? I don't want them to have it so when I leave the office, I leave the work there. I plan to give them my home number, and, I have e-mail access.

What would you do?

There's 10 people in my department and their all women mostly my age or younger. I was polite when introduced to them one by one and said nice to meet you and smiled and made eye contact. I said thank you when one gave me something and I said I think I will like my job when a girl asked how my first day went. Other than that I didn't socialize. I am shy, plus I am busy on my cellphone conducting personal business during breaks. What should I do tomarrow to be more professional and make my new job a happy place to work? I don't want to be too friendly with these people and talk about my personal life. I made that mistake at my last job.

I am on call 24/7 for my job and receive some calls for it. I currently pay $100 a month for my cell phone. I've been at this company for a year, and from the start, they said they would pay for it.

I told the office manager type lady that I would like to signup for the companie's cell phone plan in April. My co-worker told her the same week I did. My co-worker was added to the companies plan (free phone, free plan) about a month later. I wasn't. Should I bring up the issue again? It's costing me about $1200 a year in cell phone charges. It was also a stated benefit by my bosses, the office manager, my co-workers, etc. Should I drop it?

I know interest in the two is kind of creepy. lol

I have lots of experience working with children. I've practically raised my niece. I've babysat since I was 12. (I'm 21 now)

Everytime I pass a daycare there are always "help wanted/now hiring" type signs on their doors/signs. But I'm not sure if they'd hire me with only having a high school diploma.

I'm in a job I have no interest in doing anymore, but I can't find anything else to take it's place. The few things I might like to do would require substantial financial obligations that I'm not in a position to risk right now, or I'm afraid I might start them, then lose interest. I need a change, but am lost as to how I can find something I would enjoy doing. Help!
