Let's say my name is Sarah and I want to go by Kayla. Could Kayla be my nickname at work without me having to change my legal name?

Cool. So in a year or two when I'm looking for a job, should I apply with my old name-- and, if hired, tell them I use my nickname at that point?

On my resume, should I put my full name and put my nickname in quotes? How do references work?

I'm not sure why you would want a nickname but if you tell everyone my name is Sarah but people call me Kayla they will call me Kayla. They'll want to know why you are called Kayla so if you don't mind answering that question over and over again ask them to call you Kayla.

You can go by any name you tell people to call you...however you will have to write down your legal name for your pay check purposes to match up with your s.s.#.

Many people here I know go by numerous names though I won't say WHO for you all know who the illegals are!! They seem to not get in trouble using up to 4 names.
