I'm in a job I have no interest in doing anymore, but I can't find anything else to take it's place. The few things I might like to do would require substantial financial obligations that I'm not in a position to risk right now, or I'm afraid I might start them, then lose interest. I need a change, but am lost as to how I can find something I would enjoy doing. Help!

Kurt, these situations, happen to many of us, unfortunately..... which of course I am sure you know that, without me saying...nevertheless...I don't think you shouldn't quit your present job...which you have not indicated that you would until you had something else in line....Life is too damn short to be miserable with what kind of job we do.....Sorry I really don't have the help, to answer your question any better....I wish you the best of luck with all future endeavors....I must say after posting this, then reading some of the answers you received, "ribeg" has a great premise for what you should do......
Good Luck... =)
~Peace~

Change is inevitable, and if you have the urge to move on, it's perfectly normal. But not knowing what you WANT can be a problem because you will not be able to perform your best for others. Take a pen and paper, and do a physical list of the things you want. Rate them in order of preference. Then add in side notes to each, detailing what you have to do to achieve each one. Do not be disappointed if what you want to have NOW sounds like a long shot because you don't have what it takes to get it... yet. Once you eye-ball that list, with the knowledge of what you need to do in order to get what you want, LIVE by that list, and strike them off as a task achieved that takes you closer to your goals. As to your resume? Don't lie. But it's perfectly alright to be honest and say how much harder you're willing to work to deliver. Do up your resume in such a way that the people viewing it MUST DESIRE to meet with you. Once you get in through that door, speaking with a real person, present your best, and all the EXTRAs you should want to say that you didn't say enough in your resume. Let them FEEL your desire to want that job, let them be CONVINCED that you're the real deal, and that you're serious about the things you're saying. Talk more about competency, willingness, delivery, and MORE of the things you WANT to do for them and for yourself. Make them FEEL that they would be losing if they didn't take you in. Look confident, and TRULY FEEL that the organization that takes you in, will be the lucky one. Just make sure you keep your promises.

hi, in the mean time, you can supplement your income by looking at this: I am affiliated with a multi-million dollar on-line distribution company who sells over a hundred million products that you use or consume in your home everyday and they pay a commission for every sale that you make or that you refer to the site.

If you would like to know more about how you can produce an unlimited secondary income just by changing where and how you shop, I would like to invite you to attend on online presentation of the full business and compensation plan. It will be a life changing evening.

The business team is growing rapidly and spots on the team are going fast. Don't miss your chance to profit from the shopping that you are doing anyway. Contact me today to reserve your slot for the presentation

I wish I knew what to tell you, Kurt.

At least you have the presence of mind to know that you want to make a change. You aren't waiting until you are forced to.

Here's a thought: fluff your resume so it reflects the duties of a position you might want. Blast your resume(s) and ask for your same salary.
