Well, really, it's to proctect the non-comatose. They had to form a union back in the Comatose Mime strikes of the late '60's. The Comatose had a monopoly on all the street corners and had to be busted up like the phone company. Now the NCMU (Non-Comatose Mime Union) bullies them into staying in their respective hospital beds.

You don't know that the comatose are denied. How can you tell them from the real mimes? No difference to me....

How is the person going to pretend to get out of the box? Comatose patients usually don't move.
