I'm concerned my current employer would try to make me leave and/or let me go, if they find out I'm looking at other opportunities. If I do indeed leave, I will of course give proper notice, but I'd appreciate advice on giving permission to talk with my current company. Thanks.

If a job is advertised as paying £xx thousand per annum,
is that the salary for working 5 days a week, 9-5, for a full year (less public and personal holidays)?

If so, is it normal to be able to work out an hourly rate and expect to be paid any overtime at the same rate? Or is unpaid overtime implied into the main salary?

Do all such jobs expect you to work 8 hour days, 5 days a week?

Love America but just want to give up the corporate job, HOA bullsh*t, rat-race, dick-head neighbor and pack up the kids, dogs and move to somewhere like Tuscany. I figure we can stomp grapes or something to make ends meet.

Is there a way to make money no matter where you live?

Especially when your current employer is shorthanded. But then again, they have been shorthanded for a while as they have not replaced those that left.

Untill receintly I did the job of a teamleader in the call centre of a large catalogue company who's head office is in West Yorkshire. They decided to outsourse some of their calls abroad and the number of staff reduced. While the company varied the contracts of the staff to reduce the opening hours in the UK I was left to look after a number of staff alone for 2 hours of each of my shifts. When all the contracts had been changed I was told it was probable that I was no longer needed as a Team Leader. I took a week off on holiday and came back to find the team had been disbanded with no negotiation and they refused to accept that I was redunant. What do you think am I just too tempremental?

I specialize in writing resumes for the Hispanic market, in English, and for the young professionals coming out to work for the first time. I write high impact quality resumes from my home. I feel I should charge well for my work but don't want to OVERCHARGE or charge as the established places. How much is fair??
