1. By how much I enjoy working there -- liking what I do is a vital component of job satisfaction.

2. By how much I like the people I work with -- if I dread being around my coworkers, it's not a satisfying job.

3. By how much I get out of it compared to how much I put into it. Yes, this means how much I get paid. But it also involves the benefits package and how many hours I work. If I have to put in 60-hour weeks to barely make a living wage, it's not that satisfying.

4. By the chance for advancement -- if it's a truly satisfying job, I won't still be in the same position, making the same pay, five years from now. But if there's no way to move up, it's not a good job.
