When I was younger I always wanted to become an archeologist and dig out artifacts of vases and other neat stuff. Is it a very hard job for anyone like me?

I have 1 more year of undergrad with a 3.7 gpa and have been told that I have a good shot at an analyst job. I hear they start at $100K right after undergrad school (after bonus), but the life style is horrible. But i do like money, and want to be rich. They say that if you stick with it for 10 years you are easily a millionaire.

Currently I have a very boring IT job. Really boring!

I'm looking into other careers. So far, I'm deciding between becoming a professional SCUBA Diver or Cage Fighter.

Any other ideas or suggestions?

Or at least it seems that way in my case. Even though I am qualified for many positions I apply for, I never hear back from the application or interview. I am healthy, I can work as well or better than people half my age. I know employers are not suppose to discriminate about age, but I think they have ways around it. What do you think?

So hard that you've left the business, or are thinking of leaving the business? Out here in Chicagi, agents are leaving the biz left and right, esp.the ones who got in the game the last few years, and the older ones on the verge of retirement anyway...good news-in 1.5 to 2 years, the field will be cleared out again...bad news-everything will prob be web-based at that point on Craig's list type
sites. Point is, the business was on its way out anyway, just
like travel agencies and floor-based stock-brokers. You very well just saw the last hurrah of old-fashioned agency, like a supernova
before it burns out and extinguishes. Definitely time for these
agents to go back to their old desk jobs or school. Many here
are panicking, and dropping commissions so low that they are close to PAYING sellers to list. I'm being only slightly facetious on that last point, as some out here are charging 300$ for a full-service listing. Funny what starvation will do to commissions!
and mighty sad!

Are they checking to see if you are some sort of pedophile or sicko or are they looking into your driving record, i.e. dui's, reckless driving, etc. and how far back are they going to check? Is this really necessary and legal? Some places want to do background checks, credit checks, drug testing, etc. for jobs that only pay about $10 hour. Anyone know?

I did not get fired, I quit and gave proper notice. I frankly had enough of my managers behavior and needed to get out of that environment. I have learned that in Michigan, its legal to give negative references as long as there is documentation to back up thier claims. I worked their for 4 years, was promoted twice and I cannot simply not put this company in my resume. The last year I worked there was horrible beyond comprehension. I kept getting write ups and I couldn't figure out what I was doing and what I needed to change my behavior. I felt that it was a contructive discharge but I never could figure out a way to prove it. I went on alot of interviews and a couple of places said after the interview that I was hired as long as nothing came up in my refrence check, Apparently something did come up-the place were I work now was kind enought to show me. It's not a very good job but, I figure If I stick it out for a year I will get something better.

Do you? If yes, how often? what type?
hard or soft?
pics or movies?
aren't you afraid you'd be caught by your colleagues or the IT department?

Beware, the IT departments usually track employee activities... !

I am working in this place...and I have just been made supervisor, and in 6 months I could get to be an assistent manager. I love my job, I like my colleagues.
Also this opportunity has appear.....a new place of work, very simmilar, yet not the same, with the one I am working in.....I could put a resume...and if selected (there are great chances for that) I would become an assistant manager in 2 months, and in one year...I could be a manager
If I choose the first one, I don't know how long it will take me to become a manager, but if I choose the other one, I don't know if I will like it just as much as I know I would like being a manager here
The salary....exactly the same.....What would you do?

Hello. I have 5 years of business experience, however, I've never been too thrilled with my career choice. I decided to go back to school and am working on a masters degree in accounting. Well, I can't get anybody to hire me. Placement agencies say, "Come back when you have 3-5 years of accounting experience." How do I get experience without getting a job? I understand I cannot command as high a salary as I could in my previous life.....but I'm getting desperate that I'll be STUCK in my current career because I can't get anyone to give me a chance. Anyone have any advice?!?!? Resources?

I have a new job that is really paying me very well ( in my opinion more than the job is worth), but the problem is that I don't have anything to do. My expertise is not really realativy to the job I have. I have been told that the job will really be busy in about 2 months, but the boredom now is hell to me. Should I look for something else, or should I stick it out?

I always seem to fall over. This is becomeing very annoying because I am now 26 and havent been able to hold down a steady relationship. Some may say that the problem is due to my enourmous head but I have to disagree - the head is the heaviest part of the body for everyone and just because mine is 30 stone should mean I cannot overcome the challenge of walking.
