It seems to be a pointless activity, all those gas guzzlers going around in a circle. I just read an article that the NASCARs run on leaded gasoline and each car puts 100-200 lbs of pollution in the air each race. NASCAR friviously burns through a precious resource and puts toxic chemicals in the air, how can we be serious about the environment and allow this so called sport to continue. At least put some EPA regulations on the cars. It would be funny to see them race in Toyota Prius.

I Wrote a check to my landlord for rent and had some unexpected expenses pop up I had to use some of the money from my checking account for. So Long story short I don't enough money in my account to cover the check, I have some of it but not all. I called the bank and asked if they would cover it(pay it ) and just charge me a fee or would they sent it back (bounce It) there response was very cloudy They said they are not required to pay it but may as a courtesy. So I don't know what will happen and am going crazy. Does anybody have any experience with this? My bank is bank of america.

My co-worker gave his two weeks a few days ago and my job gave him a counter offer with more money. He didn't give me the details but he asked me if he should take it and stay or move on. I told him I heard job recruiters say never take a counter offer when you give your notice to your current employer. Does anyone know the reason behind this?

I have left public accounting and will be doing a few individual tax returns this year on my own. Have one question though. On the 1040 it ask for the EIN of the paid preparer. Well I don't have one, does answering the question as being self-employed alleviate having to answer that question. I prefer not to get one and not use my SS (which is why I got a PTIN). Any thoughts

from the employ of where you built it. You want to take the whole 401(k) out for yourself because you want these bills payed completely off but if you do, you're considered officially quit of that employer. The job sucked but the benefits were fabulous. you've found a new job because they aren't going to call you back any how.
Would you take the money and quit or would you keep the money in the 401(k) building little in case they wanted you back.

I've heard that's a good thing but I really don't know what it means. I have an online savings account that has a 4.5% APY and is FDIC insured up to $100,000, but not beyond that. So what does it mean if I end up one day with more than 100k in the account and it's not FDIC insured?

Ok I am looking to get an apartment tonight, but my credit is bad. 500 or so. I make about $3200 a month gross and the rent is 650. They told me they would know right away if I am approved or not. I just don't want to waste my money if I know I am not gonna get approved. The apartment complex is mckinnley and the deposit they want is $200, which is not a problem, but it is $50 to apply and I do not want to get turned down and loose $50. Please help

I plan to buy an evaporative air conditioner in March 2008 ( just before the summer season starts in the Philippines ). I am considering this option since the electricity consumption of the usual air conditioner is much higher.

Do you have any experience in using this equipment as compared to the usual air conditioner ?

Note : I need to cool a enclosed space with a 30 square meter floor area and a height of 3.5 meters.

Thank you.

I have quite a few (about 12) old credit accounts that have been charged off to collections, and I would like to, sometime in the not too distant future begin to clean up my credit. If I were to pay off or settle on any of these accounts, who should I contact and pay? I am contaced by collections agencies for all of them, but all but one is still listed on my credit report under the name of the original creditor. I don't want to agree to pay a collections agency only for them to tell me, "Oh well we are only contraced by 'fill in the blank" credit card company, we don't have the authority to remove or change their listing." Anyone have some good advice for how I can make sure that any payments I make would acutally improve my credit?

I'm looking for a free site that shows all the MLS properties in my area, both current listings and recent solds. I don't need full property details but I do need asking / sale price and DoM.

I hear that sites like Zillow.com and ZipRealty.com display only a portion MLS listings.

Do you know of a site that shows ALL listings?

I rent out a private single family residence in CA. It was a brand new remodeled home in perfect condition. I lived in it 8 months prior to renting it out, but these tennants are complaining every week about something. First it was the toilet (which was brand new but had their daughter's scissors in it) that I had to get replaced. Then they messed up the settings on the sprinklers and I had to call an irrigation expert to fix, they broke the latch on the gate i had to fix, they have now broken the drawer of a brand new kitchen drawer and the handle on a closet door they want me to fix (all this in 3 months). Do I have to fix everything they break?? Also they haven't paid this month's rent yet and I'm thinking it might be because I haven't had the drawer fixed yet. I want to put my foot down - the lease says that they must at their sole expense keep all locks and HARDWARE in good, clean order and repair. Would the handle on the door and the roller of the drawer fall into this category??
