Payment methods at Wright College bookstore inside the Science Building that I should go during spring 2008 semester.

I've started a new job and my first pay was paid directly into my bank account on Friday before 2pm. It is now Tuesday morning 7.30am and my pay is still not there.

A friend told me that when you start a new job for example and money is being put into that bank account for the first time by the company you're working for that it takes a while for it to get there. The company I work for told me it should be there by Monday.

I'm going to check if they have the correct bank details later on today but before I go and make a fool of myself asking them why my pay isn't there when you said it would I just wanted to know about this delay and if it is true and is there any other reason that banks hold on to payments like that other than for gaining interest off it?

Also I don't know if the fact that I'm Australian makes any difference. I don't know if banks in say Europe or America work differently to our banks but anyone who answers you're much appreciated.

Also, is there a standard cost or does it depend on the size of your property to what you will pay?

I found a company that guarantees to pay out 1.5 to 2% interest EVERY DAY. All the money market and savings accounts pay out 4-5%, but only once a month or even once for the entire term. Is this rate of return even possible? Should I trust it? I'm thinking every investor would be breaking down their walls to invest with them.

My employer choose all year to pay everyone profit sharing monies, even though profit sharing was in the negative. Now he says we must pay a monthly interest payment on the overdrawn profit sharing monies. He mentioned his CPA told him he could, so that he could avoid paying taxes on the money. I feel the CPA probably told him that he can charge interest on money loaned out to employees, and not have to pay taxes on loaned money. Does anyone know if this is legal?
If not what would you do?

My aunt, who has ALS/Lou Gehrig's Disease had to purchase a craftmatic bed (she can't lay flat or will die), a wheelchair, and modify her home to accommodate a wheelchair. She took some money from her 401k (she is only 57) to pay for these expenses. Now the government is requiring that she pay back $7000 in taxes. Is there anything she can do since she is disabled (can't walk/move limbs) as this is taking a huge chunk out of her income (basically her grocery bill)? I mean she is disabled, can't someone, somewhere help her or the government give her a tax break due to medical expenses?

I guess it is both in my life. I just got an unexpected check and he's a hero! Income tax refunds save the day some years, especially if I spent too much at Christmas!
Most of the time, money is a villian. This bad guy keeps me from doing a lot of things I want to do. He has taken my time and effort, then the bills come in and he just leaves me suddenly, without even a 'Goodbye'! He's heartless!
Live well and do good. Thanks for answering!

I applied for an IT job, interviewed and today they sent me an e-mail saying that I didn't get the job. They told me why I didn't get the job, so that's not really something I'm concerned about. I just don't know how to respond to this e-mail... or should I even bother? What is something I could say if I e-mail them back?

Every interview book I have read has always said delay the conversation of salary until later in the interview, or wait until the employer brings it up. But, I just finished my second interview and we still did not discuss salary or benefits at all. I know they are interviewing 2 more people today and they said they will make their decision this week, but I dont know what they will offer me if I get this position. I heard rumors that it pays $45-$50k, which is acceptable to me, but I never confirmed this with them. Do you think it is bad that this has not yet been discussed? Will I be disappointed by the offer?
