Lets do this the old way....MENTAL ARITHMETIC.
If your question was " What percent of 100 is 90", you would instantly know the answer "90%". But, 300 is 3 times bigger than 100, so, the percentage must be only one third of 90%, =30%

You've been given the correct answer, but no one showed you how to derive it.
X * 300 = 90
X = 90/300 = 30/100 = 30%
same holds true for any ratio
where X = percentage rate in decimal form
where Y = whole number
where Z = percentage result
X * Y = Z
X = Z/Y
Y = Z/X

you're able to try this mentally, come on, attempt it with me... we've $3 hundred this is one hundred% yet we want ninety% so we take 10% of three hundred this is 30 (you only ought to pass the decimal place from 3 hundred.00 to 30.00) Now that we've 30 we subtract that from 3 hundred. S0, 3 hundred-30= $270.00 answer: $270.00
