I applied for an IT job, interviewed and today they sent me an e-mail saying that I didn't get the job. They told me why I didn't get the job, so that's not really something I'm concerned about. I just don't know how to respond to this e-mail... or should I even bother? What is something I could say if I e-mail them back?

I would reply to the e-mail with something like the following:

Thank you for the opportunity of interviewing with your company and letting me know the outcome. It is a disappointment not to have been hired, but I appreciate your time and input.

Did you apply for a job at Zenith Bank as a senior manager? No? Then it's a scam.

Well if you didn't make a good enough impression the first time around I wouldn't even bother replying. All you can do is learn from it and move on to the next opportunity. Think of it like baseball, the more at-bats you have the more chances you'll have to round the bases. Good luck.

If the reason they gave you is something that just applied to not getting THIS job, and if you are still interested in being considered for a different job with them, then you could reply and say something like "Thank you for considering me for the position of xxxxxxx. Please keep me in mind if in the future, a job opening comes up that would more closely fit my qualifications." Or if you don't see ending up working for them, just don't reply.

Whatever you do, DO NOT burn bridges. Respond by telling them that you appreciate their consideration and ask that they keep your resume on file. You never know what will come up.

thanks for letting me know. =) bit of courtesy does help.

Its good if they gave you a review on your interview. But also tell them that you would still be interested if they have other vacancies/opportunities.
