I work at a local supermarket in town, and we get paid every week (starting with the second week.) I cashed in my first paycheck, but I forgot to give my dad the second paycheck and I lost it (I was planning on giving him the paycheck I got today...early for Thanksgiving, as well as the one I picked up on Saturday.)

I heard that at most places I can get the old paycheck canceled and get a new one? Is this true? How does this work?

Thanks for the help!

Ok, so in 2005 I did my moms taxes on turbo tax, but my step-dad did his taxes on paper. Somehow one of there kids got claimed for child tax credit on both. The IRS issued the refund as stated on the return, but now they are telling my mother that she owes the money plus fees. Shouldn't they be responsible for giving the refund.

delivered by USPS until 2 1/2 weeks after it arrived to the destination city?
I'm also being charged a finance charge (whatever that is) along with the late fee, whereas before when the payments were on time there were no finance charges.
I have made a claim for the late fee but the person I talked with said I would have to pay the finance charge, which I'm thinking is because of the "late" payment.
I don't think I need to pay for the late fee or the additional finance charge because of USPS not delivering the payment within a reasonable time frame. The person I talked with said they have no control over what USPS does. Given that train of thought I shouldn't have to pay because I have no control of what USPS does either.
What do you think?

If anyone knows anything about statistics, can you kindly help?
Say you open a new sandwich shop that people know nothing about (how good the food is, customer service, prices, etc)., however, you have great visible signage. Then, say this sandwich shop is located in a metropolitan downtown area like New York or Chicago that has pedestrian traffic of 19,000 people per day. Okay, now how many people out of those 19,000 that pass by from 7am - 5pm would likely stop in your business. Thank you for your help.

I graduated in May with a Bachelor's degree in Business. It's almost December and I've had NO LUCK AT ALL. I can't even count the amount of places I've applied to, there's so many of them - law firms, marketing companies, travel agencies, everywhere. I read the job descriptions and, even if I don't have everything they're looking for, I apply anyway if I think I can handle the duties. At this point, I don't even care if it's not related directly to my field, I just want a damn job. The best is when they expect 5 years of experience for an entry level job. This is getting ridiculous, I don't know what to do anymore. My mom is getting on my case - and it's not like I'm not trying to find a job. I'm convinced there's just nothing out there.

Anyone else been through this or going through it now? What keeps you sane? Because I'm about to go crazy!!!

I'm only working part-time (full-time student) and I'm planning to quit in another six months (making ten months in total for first job). I'm already looking into other jobs and possibly internships for when that time comes around. Anyway, does it even matter how long you've stayed ... especially when you just work part-time? I guess your performance means more, right?

We worked with a realtor last summer. It was a rush deal (2 weeks...we had sold our house and the one we were buying beforefell through due to the owners fault)

This realtor was a dual agent and once we purchased this home and moved in we discovered tons of problems that were not disclosed before purchase. We are stuck with a huge repair bill and we're pissed!

Can I go after the realtor or broker-in-charge? If so, what are the success rates on these types of things?

I was working for this mortgage company last year for about 6 months. I had set hours, Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm & a 1hour lunch. I was on salary, every single month I got paid the same amount. I recall asking them why I did not have a pay stub showing all my deductions, & why they were not taking any thing out of my check. They told me that this is how they paid all their employee's, (When I was hired I was hired as their employee not as an individual contractor) & that at tax time they would send me a form to do my taxes called a 1099. When I did my taxes I did not need to pay the state any money. I did not know this but apparently employers can NOT do that, they can not tell the government (edd, irs etc) that you are an individual contractor & when in reality your just a regular employee. Now when I called EDD they told me there are no wages that were reported for last year from that employer who had me on a 1099. How can I fight this & get unemployment!!!?

Please help! Warning: Very detailed question. Thanx in advance anyone that can help me.

I live in Ohio, and I'm a sub-contracted Landscaper/construction guy. I receive a personal check weekly, drive my truck at work, hauling things and dealing with customers.

I had lots of personal time off this year so I brought home about 11,000. First off how much will I owe on that? 15% would be 1650, is that right?

I drove about 6,000 WORK miles of 6600 (90.09% work) on my new truck I bought in Sept. I've spent about $1300 total on gas.

Do I get to write off 36 cents (if thats what the rate is?) for all 6000 work miles? That right there would be like $2000 and would that mean a return for me? Before I even start on the 90ish% of the 1300 in gas receipts? Sounds too good to be true.

That's the way people have been explaining it to me, but It can't be can it?

And new truck was bought for personal use but 90% of it's use is at my job. Can I write a % of payments/insurance too?

There is a job that I applied for as a new grad 2 years ago. It is with a company that I dream about. When I applied 2 years ago, I was told to reapply in 2 years after I get some experience under my belt. Well, my 2 years is up and there is a job opening with my dream company!!

I am pretty sure the HR lasy will remember me from 2 years ago. I called her 2 times and both times we had lovely conversations. The opening specifies that the CL needs to be addressed to the dame HR lady.

My Question:
I have read that HR folks get tired of reading the cookie cut cover letters. I want to spice it up by somehow adding tha, working for this company has been a goal of mine for many years now, and that I am motivated, excited, etc, etc.

How do I throw that in? I want them to know that I can 'taste' this job. I
