I work at a local supermarket in town, and we get paid every week (starting with the second week.) I cashed in my first paycheck, but I forgot to give my dad the second paycheck and I lost it (I was planning on giving him the paycheck I got today...early for Thanksgiving, as well as the one I picked up on Saturday.)

I heard that at most places I can get the old paycheck canceled and get a new one? Is this true? How does this work?

Thanks for the help!

I was told by my parents that reissuing the check may cost something? Is that true?

Advise your employer right away, they will issue a stop payment and reissue a replacement check, normally by the next pay cycle.

Most employers do not charge for the stop payment, but since you acknowledge that you had received the original check, they can charge you.

Every place is different... but for the most part they usually issue a new one..... explain what happened.... then they may just give u a new one and void the previous one. happened to me a few times.... just try not to make a habbit of it.

Tell your boss. They'll cancel the old one and issue you a new one. This could take a week or more, though.

ask your manager. They'll be able to do something about it
