in order to help my daughter avoid bankrupcy. (Not asking for parenting advice here, she will have to earn this money.)

So I told her to ask the collector to call me, which he did. At work. (Not a problem in itself, but the resulting turdiness was)

My initial offer was 50% of the total bill, which is a little more than the original credit card balance. I would go a little higher, but he told me it was non-negotiable and 80% is the only offer.

He was EXTREMELY rude and told me it was my bill, I'd run it up anyway. (It is not.)

So how do I go over this jackass' head? Do I go through Capital One (the company) or the collection company (NCO?)

I know they have a crappy job, but being a jerk to somebody who owes you nothing tends to get you NOWHERE.

If a house in California is foreclosed on and sold (about 400,000 less then neighboring homes) will all other liens be expunged from the title with the transfer to new owners? Or does the lien stay tied to the title and become the responsibility of the new owner?

So, let's say you have a fatal disease and know you do not have much time left. You cannot get a decent life insurance policy because of your health condition. If banks/credit companies cannot access your medical info, what stops you from incurring a ton of debt buying things for your loved ones? Assume you have no assets.

How can you get your credit rating better? if you have been on debt for 6 years & not made any payments & avoiding then debt collectors then i assume the credit rating is bad, so if you file for bankruptcy then the credit rating is still bad right? if i dont file for bankruptcy but also never made a payment to my current debt can i still get another card? can i still get a mortage? etc.

I quit claimed her completely off the Deed of the home because my brother wanted to sell the house from under her and then put her in a home. I thought that was wrong because she is happy being with her grandchildren everyday. It is very therapuetic for her to be around family otherwise I noticed she was withdrawing from life and becoming depressed, before we moved in. She's slightly disabled and I take care of her and all her needs. My brother just got tired of her calling him all the time because she was so lonely wanting to talk ,so he threatened to sell the house and put her in a 'mental old age facility.' Now she is happy because she has a sence of family again.
My question is:
If she could not pay the house mrtgage anymore because bills are so high would they take the house from her even if my name was on the title deed?
I was thinking about doing a reverse mortgage for her but they said I would have to take my name off the title. ODD No? Is bankruptsy a better option?

ok so we got our house and made the offer to buy and it was accepted so the closing date on the house was sappose to be today right, but since the house did not appraise for what it was sappose to appraise for(85,500 only appraised for 81,000) so now what would be next, will we the buyers have to come up with the difference or will the seller have to come up with the difference?

My credit report shows duplicate credit inquiries, made on the same day, from a couple of creditors. This is obviously a mistake and these inquiries should only show once.

I wrote TransUnion and they asked me to write the people making the inquiry to fix the mistake. I thought it was TransUnion's responsibility to fix mistakes in my report! Of course I will write the creditors, but am I wrong to think that TU should be the one fixing this? Whose responsibility is it to fix these types of mistakes?

I love being a student nurse for many reasons such as :

1, The patients

2, The staff on the wards

3, Getting experience.

It seems like I am moaning but I have assignments to do and

have to work so much like another person has to do in their

job. However when I work weekends I get no extra pay. Does

that seem fair? I think student nurses should be paid for the

job they do not a set bursary amount. I too have to pay bills

and rent to pay. But now I will need to get a part-time job to

help pay the bills. God I feel like am moaning can anyone

reassure me or is anyone going through the same thing.

Thank you

I had a credit card debit from 1983. I filed bankruptcy in 1985 and included this in it. Now 25 years later I get a letter from a Midland Funding Collection Co saying I have to pay the debt or "else"....anyways, I called and told them the debt was discharged in bankruptcy procedings in 1985...Now I get a second letter stating that they have no record of the bankcruptcy and I need to have my attorney send them a copy. This is 25years old, and I can't even get any legal copies of anything to send them, as the archives only will allow access back to 1987. I tried calling them and was treated so rudley I couldn't even believe it......I wrote them and told them again to leave me alone.....what can or should I do, I am sick of them harrassing me....Isn't there some law or something that protects me from this???? Please help...Serious replys only people.....this is no joking matter.

I have a judgement against a person and they quick claim deeded the house to their husband to avoid me taking it from the judgement. Is there a way I can tie this individual back to the house and be able to do it on my own without the use of an attorney. Any help would be greatful.

Thanks

I have a number of revolving credit accounts (credit cards) that have always been in good standing while they were open, but have been closed for many years (ranging from 1997-2004) yet remain on my credit report. Even though they are marked as "closed at customer request" in the remarks, they still appear, while others have fallen off. I looked over Equifax, TransUnion and Experian's sites, but couldn't determine why some would fall off, and others would remain, if they are all and have always been "paying as agreed" while they were active (eg. there aren't any negative hits that would make them stay longer than others).
