Anything in the medical field is hot now and the demand is nonstop. I am not sure about the starting wages for someone in a surgical tech position, but I have inquired about several health related fields in my area and an X-ray tech person can figure on starting at about 46,000 to 50,000 in my area. Obviously this will can depending on where you live, the size of the company/hospital that you get in with and your experience.

Check on salary.com to see what the specific range is in your area. You can also see an estimate of your paycheck and vary your experience to see what your earning potential is.

Good Luck.

Hi there!

I read a report somewhere (I wish I can quote the source here) and the report shows that for medical related field, 'high demand' segment were in Ophthalmology (the thing about your eye and eyesight, not just spectacles), and Pharmacist.

* Special note on Pharmacist -- specifically in retail segment.

Maybe the straight answer to your question is 'No. It's not that high demand.' But don't drop your shoulders yet because...

'There's no cold hard proof that high demand equals to high income (is that what you have in mind?)'

On the contrary...

Low demand might as well means:
* High growth potential
* Higher income bracket (small number of competent people to carry out the task)
* Less stressful due to lack of competition

So, personally, I think you might want to consider all these before making any 'calculated' decision.

* A parting personal note -- I'll steer away from high-demand, high-competition job if I were you. But I'm just saying...

Anything that is in the medical field is in high demand. There really isn't a difference> you need to check the salaries offered in your area each has a different pay scale and qualifications. The programs are about the same length so that shouldn't really be a factor. remember to choose something that you really think that you will enjoy.
