ABC news did a report quite sometime ago about this... here is a clip of what they had to offer...
Call Center
There are currently more then 670,000 home-based call-center workers in the United States and Canada right now.
With better call routing technology and the widespread use of the internet more companies are outsourcing their order taking, problem solving and customer service calls to home based workers.
The skill level required for a home based call center job will vary. Pay is normally earned by the minute at an average of $8-$10 per hour.
Some things to watch out for are background noise and other distractions that would interfere with a phone call.
Alpine Access
LiveOps
Willow CNS
West
I personally have had an excellent experience with Alpine Access but decided to go into a business instead of a JOB (just over broke) .... None of these companies require payment and are legit.... I do know that live ops expects you to become incorporated first, that is what deterred me from trying them... I have the whole article in a word doc if anyone is interested.... there is just not enough space here to copy and paste the whole thing..

Unfortunately, legitimate work at home jobs are few and far between. There are companies like Avon, Tupperware and a host of others that offer you the ability to market their products at your convenience. But, let's take Avon as an example. My wife has been an Avon Rep for more than 8 years. Most of those 8+ years she lost money because you have to buy marketing materials (catalogs) to hand out. When you aren't selling much, that money comes out of your pocket. And trust me when I tell you, it can add up to alot in a short period. And I am not just picking on Avon. They all operate in much the same way. But, if you want to put in the work, it can eventually pay off. My wife is now consistently profitable for the last 2 years and all indications are that this will continue. But, she worked her tail off to get to that point. Don't go into any work from home opportunity thinking there is a free lunch to be had. You will have to work hard to get where you want to go, and it will take time.
There are many things you could do to earn extra money. Open a company doing window washing, cutting lawns, office cleaning, house cleaning. There are many more that you could start pretty quickly with equipment you may already have. And even if you have to buy a few things, the investment would be minimal. These are all examples of jobs that could be scheduled at your convenience and would not take much time to complete. This could work well with your on call status.
My cousin started a business staging homes for sale. He bought a bunch of slightly damaged furniture from a local retailer and uses it to make empty houses look inviting and comfortable. He has been in business 8 months and just quit his full time job because it interfered with his "extra income" job.
I started a powerwashing business. It dawned on me one day that I was doing something for myself that I could make money at. With a wise investment in equipment, I took the leap and I too will be quiting my full time job in the near future.
Take a look at everything you like to do. Think about whether someone would pay you to do it for them. My daughter has a side business hand making cards and invitations.
I met a guy a year ago that specializes in razing (tearing down) barns. He then uses the wood to manufacture furniture and sells it at a local furniture gallery.
My point is, don't just consider the usual. Consider the unusual. There are alot of things you could do for extra money, if you just take a good hard look and use an open mind.
Good Luck.

If you are an accomplished typist - word processor and have recently visited your local city college or university librarian, you can apply as a "certified" graduate typist, earning between $1.50 to $2.00 per page for a master or doctoral thesis. The librarian will provide you with a sample of the typing template (i.e., margin settings, font selection, page set up, etc.) in order to complete these projects. An average weekend income is about $300-$400 for two days work.
Good luck!

I have found a site that will pay you just for reading emails they send to you. It's not a get rich quick scheme, but it may help until you find what you are looking for. As soon as you sign up, you get $10 put into your account. Then as soon as you are approved, you will be sent emails to read. You really don't even have to read them, you just open them and at the top when it says account credited, just close the window and you're done! I am doing this just until I find what I am looking for. Christmas is coming soon, and I can use all the help I can get. Here is the website if you are interested.

Personally, I do not trust work at home jobs. I hear they are scams. I advise you to search for jobs on local newspapers or online like craigslist.com. Of course, like any other opportunities, you need to know what you're looking for and be really keen to what people are offering.
I cannot believe you sent money.
YOU NEVER HAVE TO PAY TO GET A JOB!
YOU NEVER HAVE TO PAY AT A JOB
YOU NEVER HAVE TO BE UNHAPPY AT A JOB
When they tell you, it's a scam.
... so ridiculous...

And if you managed to sign up 50 customers, you will receive USD500 monthly commissions.
Here is the link for you to sign up as an agent. You need to type in this code AGLEEX182X in the first box “Parent Agent's Promo Code” and keep filling out the form.
