I have tuition debt with my university. After being contacted by a few collections agencies for a few years, I finally received a letter from an attorney representing my school. So, I mailed a letter explaining my financial hardship and plan to make monthly payment of a few hundred dollers because I did not want to be sued.

Now, after I sent an initial payment, the attorney sent me copies of the Stipulation of Settlement for me to sign and return to the attorney.

What does this mean? The reason why I decided to make a monthly payment is because I do not want to be filed with the court. So, can I refuse to sign the Stipulation??

I cannot afford to find an attorney to take care of this situation, so any information is very appreciated!

A coffee shop had credit card symbols on it glass -- visa, mastercard, american express. So i asked for a coffee, and just as i was about to hand my american express card for payment, the cashier refused saying

minimum payment must be $5 for credit card or pay cash.

I never use cash. So i walked out without buying anything.

But i mean the shop door displays credit card signs, yet shop refused to accept card for something as little as $2.20. Isn't this arrogance?

i'm a college freshman and basically, i'm a telemarketer at my school. i call alumni and parents of students and beg them for money. i have about 30 school days left until the semester ends and then i am transferring schools. i'll work 12 more times from here until the semester ends. i absolutely HATE this job. i also work on the days i have a really have school workload (mondays and wednesdays) and i'm falling behind in some of my classes. i would like to have my grades good enough so that they will transfer over. i feel my grades are more important right now. when i go to my other school, i will definitely find a job there (moving back home so i have a job waiting for me.) should i quit or stay?

We have a house which we rented to a family a month back. Then my husband had to go out of country due to some family emergency. There was some touchups on the wall to be done. The tenants had put almost half of their stuff n the house. I spoke ti them n asked if I could get the wall paint n hand it over to them. They said yes. But due to hectic life, I couldn't go n hand over the paint. When my husband came back after 2 weeks, this tenant said they didn't start living in cos we had to do some touchups!. n she was staying somewhere else. But their stuff was right there in the house. She now says that since she was waiting for the touchup to be done, n didn't start living , she won't be paying themonths rent. Are we being cheated?

I mean seriously. How do they expect people to get their banking done when they are only open business hours...those hours are great for just that, businesses...but for the average working person, it's impossible to get your banking done!

I'm trying to figure out the numbers on a couple of job offers that I have. One offers a nice relocation lump sum, "minus applicable taxes." What does that mean - taxes that I have to pay? Should i figure that I won't see the entire lump sum? What is the tax rate for relocation bonuses? I just want to make sure that I make a smart decision, and don't end up in the hole over moving expenses - I think that I'll need every last penny of the amount they offered.

I just have a question regarding whether I am covered in planning for my retirement:

I am 53-years old and have a SavingsLink Plan of $10,000 with an interest rate of 5.5%; a Roth IRA of $100 in a bank at 2%; a Retirement Plan of 4 Mutual Funds: AMANX, AMAGX, SSAIX and SWHFX which covers investments in the Large Growth, Large Value, Bonds, Health Care, Tech, and International funds in the amount of $1,114.00; and a 401(k) which I invest 5% of my paycheck and the company matches it with 3%.

Do I need to make any changes or additions to my retirement plan, or am I covered as far as planning for the future?

There is this home I like and it is forclosed. But it has only been on the market 2 days. It is listed at $129,999.00 and I am sure it is well worth that much. My realtor said that since it's only been on the market a short time (2 days) that she really can't offer less than asking price, because we need to ask for concessions, which will be around $6,000.00. She said she could try offering less if we wanted to though. What should I offer? It needs all new carpet and comes with no appliances so I would have to pay for those as well. I was under the impression that with so many forclosures (I am in MI) that you could always offer quite a bit less. I am talking like, maybe offer $120,000.00 and ask for closing costs. What do you think?
