Nurses, firefighters, doctors, and/or police officers do you assume that you are exempt from doing good things in your personal time? Do you think that your "Do Good" time is from when you punch into work and when you punch out?

Or hopefully, do you assume that your responsibilities to your community far surpasses your shift at work? Also do you feel more responible because of the work that you do?

Plus what is your take on "Frequent Flyers", compassion or annoyance?

Lots of questions I know, trying to save points.

I filed for bankruptcy a year and a half ago due. I am current on my bills. I make about $65k a year. I filled out an application with Countrywide 2 weeks ago and never heard back. I have left the loan officer several messages. I'm guessing it was denied but i never recieved any type of notification. I only have about a 5% downpayment. Is it still possible to get qualified for a loan with less than perfect credit?

On the US one dollar bill it states "This note is legal tender for all debts public and private" but I just read a news story on Yahoo! that said Apple will no longer accept cash for iPhones. How is that possible or legal?

Currently I have 10,000 company stock options valued at $50.00. Today the price of the stock is $62.00. If I exercise the company stock option today, I will get 10,000 * $12 = $120,000.00
If the company do a 2 to 1 stock split what will happen to my current stock options?

I just became a part of the credit union (offered through my college) because I am originally from another state and I can't get my deposits directly deposited for yet another number of weeks. My other bank isn't a credit union, but it also uses Visa debit cards. I just received the one from the credit union in the mail today and it stated that after I activate it, the possible other existing cards will be deactivated. Does this count my other debit card that isn't from this same banking system? The person that set me up with it didn't bring up there'd be a problem.. he didn't even ask me if I had another debit card. Neither of my banks are open right now so I can't even call and ask this question!

I currently make $81k . I have 5 years in at my current company. The job/company is stable. The job is boring me to death though and I've kept my resume active on Monster.com. I've been offered a position where the responsibility would be greatly increased along with opening up carrer paths that are simply not available at my current company. I'm thinking of asking $100k from the new company and taking a counter offer as low as $94k. My question is, should I tell my current company about this? Does this give me leverage with my current company, or does it simply scare them in to looking to replace me if I decide not to go with the new offer? If my current company counter offered $90K I'd likely stay given the job security and the profit sharing plan I'd remain vested in. Should I tell my current company or keep silent about this and any other opportunites that come up?

With a not so great home life, and not enough money to get an apartment on his own.. my 18 yr old brother told me yesterday hes 'going to buy a house' in about 2 or 3 months.

Now hes got i THINK one credit card, no money, and chances of him actually getting a loan are slim to none, but that doesnt mean he wont TRY, and with todays slumming home economy, i dont want him getting tricked into buying a sh!tty home with 50% interest on his loan.

Please, make it mean & leave nothing out, let me know what it costs to purchase a house (inspection, closing costs etc etc) i want to try and deter him away from such a ridiculous idea (he cant even afford a car). Hes the kind of person who can def. be taken advantage of, and i dont want some real estate scum telling him he can afford a home no problem!

Thanks in advance.

It's taken me awhile to figure out what to do with my life, but I have finally figured out I want to be a guidance counselor.

I live in West Virginia and many people tell me that in order to become a guidance counselor and get a job, you need a degree in teaching and teaching experience. I do not have any interest in being a teacher at all.

At the college I will be attending it says they have an alternative program for students w/o a teaching degree and I think that allows you to be licensed as well...does anyone know anything about that?

I am wondering how hard it would be to land a job as a guidance, as many people tell me it's very difficult, what the job is like and what would be a good thing to get a BA in?

I was thinking Counseling, then I thought possibly social work, now I am still strongly thinking maybe sticking with counseling.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I currently make $40,000 a year in Finance but don't feel like I am contributing meaningfully to society. I also have a husband and two small kids, so night shifts will not work for me.

I live near Baltimore, MD.

I have a B.S. in Psychology.

Which educational program won't tear me to shreads?? Also, I have loads of compassion but get stressed easily...

Best answer goes to the one who gives me reasons why they chose or did not choose the following:

1. Radiology Technician
2. Occupational Therapy Assistant
3. Surgical Technician
4. Childbirth and Baby Care Educator
5. Nursing -ASN- RN
6. Respiratory Therapist
7. Marriage and Family Counselor
8. Child Life Specialist
9. Social Worker

I am in Florida. When I renewed my apartment complex lease this summer, my rent went from $819 to $849. However, when looking at the website back then, rent for this same size apartment was around $770. Today, if I were a new resident today, I could rent for $700. Why wasn’t I offered the market rate at the time of renewal, but merely charged $30 more than the market rate at the initial signing of the lease?

I am not kidding. It is every single day. I own a jewelry store and someone wants me to give them jewelry for this auction, or this person in the hospital, or this benefit. I am getting so discusted with this. Does anyone have a way for me to talk to these people without offending them. Some of them get down right angry when I tell them NO, as if I'm wrong for trying to protect myself. It's so out of hand. Two days ago it was someone with cancer of the brain. Yesterday it was a girl who has it in the eye. The day before that it was the catholic charity. I am absolutely serious. Everyone seems to have their hand out trying to get in my pockets. I've only been open for 2 years, and I am struggling to make my rent in here each month. It's a new business. HELP!

example. i get paid one week, then my fiancee gets paid the next. so every week, someone is geting a check. should we each take one check out of the month and use it completely to pay bills. and the other 2 checks use them for saving and miscellaneous expenses. the benefit of that would be that i have a larger sum of money on hand. the negative is that after paying bills we would be short on cash. or is it better to pay bills using all 4 checks. then i woulld have money left over. example- $200, $200, $100, $100.

All other managers when they have quit, have only given their two weeks notice (some even less) so that they don't have to train the new person, and therefore they will look good. They will look good because the new person will screw up a lot without the proper training, and everyone will be like, oh remember how smooth everything was going when so and so (the person who quit) was manager?
So anyway, should I do the same thing, OR should I give a month notice, so they can spend 2 weeks finding a replacement, and spend 2 weeks training them.
