They can only be used within those stores can't they? Isn't it like a gift card with interest?

No it is not like a gift card with interest at all! First off a gift card is prepaid. A credit card you are spending money you don't have. Basically taking out an instant loan, and for this convenient loan you will have a high interest rate. Usually between 20 and 25. And yes the target card can be used anywhere, the target card now has a visa symbol on it so it can be used anywhere you want.

Your job history i slikely not th emain factor these credit companies are considering. I am sorry to break it to you, but before this Wall Street meltdown you could get a card by just standing on your head. Do to the conomic situation in this country banks have become super weary of who they lend to, if they do so at all. As an FYI, because of this marlet meltdown credit scores nationwide are expeted to go down an average of 40 points for no reason at all (my friend has already had this happen to him). At this point I would honestly sugges the following: do not apply for any more cards as of right now- too many credit inquiries is a negative factor on your report. Did you know an inquiry typically disspears from a report in about two years time? Do what I did- open up a studen checking/ savings account with a local bank. Once you've had that account for a while (not weeks, may be up to a year if not more)- and in good standing, then apply for a small credit card with that bank. If you do not feel like waiting, you also have the option of starting off with pre-paid credit cards which also help slowy builld your credit. Good Luck

Credit cards will show up on your credit report. Even when you ask for a loan or a credit line if you do not obtain it (get the money) It will show on your credit report and low your score.

Yes, they will show up on your credit report so use them wisely!

Go to the website below and read all of it! You will be really interested in the section" how credit scoring works" in particular! I would also get a credit monitoring service. you can check your own credit reports as often as you want to and not damage your credit score!

These days with identity theft on the rise, credit monitoring is cheap insurance!

yes, anything with your name on it that has to do with money shows up on your credit report. Target cards can be used elsewhere because they are partnered with Visa. So even though they could be considered "gift cards with interest" it'll still show up on your credit report.

If they are pre-paid cards then NO they don't appear on credit reports.

If they are revolving charge accounts and you get a statement every month, then they WILL show up and YES they are only usable in the store that issued the card.

Yes even store charge cards show on your credit report.

Credit by any other name is still credit... and shows up if reported by the creditor.

They are still CREDIT" and if you abuse them they will be reported to the national credit rating groups.

What makes you think that credit card does not mean credit card. You have signed an agreement that you will pay the balance due. You also included in that agreement that if you are delinquent all sorts of bad things will happen. If oyu do not know what a credit card is, you should not have one because they can get you deeply into debt problems.
